Methusaleh Gets A Date

Recommended Posts

That's right, old as Methusaleh, 68, and going for the sleeve. My PCP told me I"ll have a stroke or heart attack w/i 10 years if I don't lose this 100 pounds and I took him at his word. Dr. Aceves is my choice, after reading just about everything on the Internet and watching everything on YouTube. I"ve already had my knee replaced and would like to keep the other one. I love hiking and x-c skiing and want to get going again. Age, I've come to understand, is a state of mind. It means I've been around the sun 68 times and on this trip I'm giving back a piece of my stomach.

Seriously, any advice, esp. about going south of the border?

TIA!:biggrin0:

Good luck to you, I am 57 so was looking at a miserable rest of my life if I kept on all the weight I was gaining. I didn't get really heavy until I broke my ankle 3 years ago and then promptly gained another 30 lbs. It is really much harder to loose weight when you are older. I was looking at getting less and less mobile, diabetes, and pain in all my weight bearing joints which just helps you gain more weight as you do less and less due to the pain. I've watched my cousin who gained probably 90 lbs after she retired, became diabetic, broke her hip, now is having surgery on the other hip, looking at being in a walker the rest of her life at 75. How is that a happy retirement? I had my surgery May 17 and have already lost 21 lbs, it took me 3 months to loose 20 lbs last year, just to have it all come back on after a few trips.

I don't feel hungry, that is the best part! This is such a wonderful gift I have been given, it's amazing.

I had my surgery here in Texas, by Dr. Nick; my insurance paid as we have federal BC/BS and it covered the sleeve due to diabetes.

I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves and loved the experience, was very well taken care of.

There are loads of people on these boards who have been there as well. I'd be happy to answer any questions if you email me, at wannalise@hotmail.com

Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
