Anybody got tattoos??

Recommended Posts

This is my Gypsy Skull freshly done. I love her so much. She represents becoming free from the fear of dying. (It was a religious experience that brought me that freedom) I don't think EVERY tattoo MUST have a special meaning, but this one is very meaningful to me. My next will be my life's quote: Torn Between Heaven and Hell. (That one will ALSO have a strong meaning in my life). My husband tatted that across his chest. At first, I was pissed cuz I felt he "stole" my idea and got it FIRST.... But then I realized that he did it to honor me. I have a keeper!

No tattoos here. Wrong generation....but I have a funny story.

My daughter had mentioned that she wanted a tattoo and I had a serious meltdown. Flash forward a couple of years....she was in labor with her third child (hard labor) and the nurse decided that she needed a sonogram. So they bring in the machine and my daughter holds up her hand in the "stop" signal and says' date=' "Wait....first I have to tell my mother something". Seems she had a tattoo on her stomach (of all places) and had successfully hidden it from me for over a year.[/quote']

I can't believe I'm reading this!!! I got my first tattoo when I was 19 in a hidden part of my body (to the right of my bladder) during labor the same exact thing happened, except I didn't have time to tell the nurse to WAIT.... And my mother saw my tattoo. She cried... And my hubby told her not to worry, that I was a married woman already. She didn't like that much.

I have 5, one on my wrist of music notes, one on my hip of the love Chinese symbol (18 years old), 5 stars on my shoulder, a quote on my back "different eyes see different things, different hearts beat of different strings" a rush song, then my last one is a peacock cover up down my back. I really want more when I'm skinny! Love them!

My favorite one is my Jiminy Cricket on my shoulder. Jiminy stands for a person's conscience, so my Jiminy has a black eye, his arm is in a sling and his clothes are a little disheveled. I'm always fighting my conscience..... I try to be a good girl, but well, shit happens

I have 5, the last is a work in progress that will be finished on Weds.

1) an angel frog on a tribal above my right ankle (24 years old)

2) a key with wings. The head of the key has my children's first initials, the shaft of the key says integrity, it's our family word. (Age 37)

3) just breathe on my left ribs (Age 38 minus 4 days)

4) it is what it is on my right ribs (Age 38 minus 4 days)

5) sweet William blossoms with a ribbon saying tu me manques. It is french for I miss you, but the literal translation is "you are missing from me." My son left for boot camp for the marine corps. I know that I will never really see my sweet William again, so it is a tattoo of grief. The thing is, when it's done, I'm done grieving and will begin anxiously awaiting my Marine.

I have several more planned. One in celebration of my Marine, one in celebration of my next son being alive today despite a suicide attempt, one for my oldest daughter. I have yet to get a line on one for my youngest daughter.

I have one tattoo so far, of a beautiful colored flower on top of my right foot. I love it because you can see it when I wear any type of sandal or flip flops. I plan to get a couple more on inner wrists. One is going to be a heart with my daughter's name, and the second one is going to be an anchor to represent my Navy career.

I also have one on top of my left foot. It is a rose with my daughters initials and she also has a rose with mine. I always said I would get one if it was special enough and this was. Open to more but no raging desire...yet. mine is the lighter colored and my daughters is the red one.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
