Yeah I'd like to know too. I'm not buying any until it's close to when I can actually eat them. I want them to be fresh. Nothing worse than old nuts. gee, that sounds funny...

When is it OK to try nuts? (I'm 5 weeks out)

Thanks, I know that I could get Protein out of them also.

My dietitian said after 6 weeks. Now I have a 1/2 serving of roasted, salted almonds everyday for Breakfast (14 almonds), usually with some mandarin orange slices.

That's a very healthy and nutritious way to eat! I'm going to start to incorporate more raw foods into my diet, since I feel like I'm not getting enough live nutrition...too much of the food I'm eating is cooked.

And not only is it healthy...it's EASY! :blushing: And with our tiny tummies, cost-effective too. Like $6-7 for a 2lb can of almonds keeps me in breakfast for a good month!

Well Lee, you must be doing something right - you've lost 44 lbs. sinxce Feb!

Actually, not since February as I was 229 on surgery morning. :D

I'm going to grab some and try them in the morning with the mandarin oranges. I agree; that's a great way to get the day started.

If you're taking an Iron supplement, some recommend having a Vitamin C source at the same time you take the Iron to help it absorb better. That's why I started the mandarin oranges originally. Now, it's just yummy! :thumbup1:

I just looked on my 100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds. They are 4 grams of Protein and 3 grams of carbs.

Wonder how the cocoa almonds compare with raw almonds in the carb count... I'll check it out since I'm low-carbing it.

Yesterday I wound up with pecans and mandarin oranges on my salad in a quaint little cafe. They were a surprisingly good combination I wouldn't have thought of. Now the almond/mandarin orange thing for Breakfast sounds like an easy and tasty solution for breakfast after I heal from the surgery. Thanks for the tip.

I have a feeling that pecans and mandarins were too high in carbs right now so I only had a couple of bites. Yesterday didn't turn out to be stellar for me, but I'm going to be better today.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
