Maryland Lap-Band Support Group

Hello Group,

I know that it has been a long time since anyone has heard from me. I have been going through my own stuff! But I will try to regroup and invite everyone back into my world. LOL I will be attending the May-2006 Lap-Band Support Group meeting today at 1 PM and I will speak there about my progress. I have been making much improvements and loving it. I have had much support from a lot of you. Mostly from a group member by the name of Teresita. She is awesome. I hope to see a lot of you there today. But if you are not able to attend... Look forward to the next meet. From what I know we will be having our first Pico-Nick meeting at one of our local parks. Take care and know that you are a part of one of the best support groups ever.

From Your Maryland Lap-Band Support Group Leader LOL Karen

Kisses and Hug's to you all. M&F God Bless

Have you heard of Dr. Barry Greene? He is in Rockville and has an outpatient clinic where he does lap-band surgury! His fees are reasonable if tou are a self pay. His number is (301) 251-4128

Just thought that you might want to take this route rather than flying to a differn't coutry

Dr. Greene is a very caring and personable doctor. He completed my surgery on April 4, 2006, and have not had any complications as he is a very proactive and precautious doctor. I highly recommend him. Good luck.

Hello Marylanders!

I am thinking to get the lap-band, overseas in Hungary this coming September, by Dr. Csiszár Miklós @ Péterfy Sándor utcai Kórház / hospital in Budapest.

My residence is in Silver Spring, I will need a doctor in this area to do the fills for me.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Katalin.e.

I am new to the marylanders thread but I felt the need to add my 2 cents in. I was actually banded in Mexico but I started going to Dr. Greene for my fills. I agree with any and everyone who says Dr. Greene is wonderful!

I normally see his assistant Peter for my fills but Dr. Greene has been available when I needed him.

I went to Mexico because my BMI was 38 and even though I had HP my primary physician would not recommend me for WLS so I took matters into my own hands. Please consult with Dr. Greene before going out of the country. If I had know him, I would have but I have been very happy with my surgery and my Mexico doctor as well as Dr. Greene's staff and office.

Best Wishes!!!

Hello NaturalBeauty,

My BMI is around 38.

I have to self pay and I thought I should try my home country, which is Hungary...as I am gathering all the information on this, I will be better off financially than even to travel to Mexico.

The hospital, and Dr. Csiszar excellent, they do a super job.

BUT!

Reading you, booda, Angelu I made up my mind to call Dr. Greene's office for a consultation before I make a decison on anything.

THANKS so much!

NaturalBeauty, how much do they charge for the fills?

Luckly, my insurance pays for my fills (I believe it's how the code it :))but I believe it's $150 a fill and there are other admin cost that come with that. I know that's how much it cost a little over a year ago when I first went but now it could be higher. The demand for doctors who will treat patients who have had surgery in another country is high so some doctors are taking advantage of it. But Dr. Greene is great, I go on Monday for a possible unfill.

I hope it works out.

Keekahari,

Keep up the great job you are doing for a soon to be banded lady. Did you get approved and/or do you have a surgery date? Keep us posted!

Thanks chica.

I'm going to take it real easy with my eating this holiday. I'm going to attemp to eat right and walk/exercise the entire 4 day weekend.

No oreos

No subway Peanut Butter Cookies

No Otis Spunkmeyer cookies

No alcohol

:rambo

i'm not liable for what I might eat tomorrow. but I've been pretty good this weekend. Except for the minor usual slips. I know it shouldnt' be usual. or even have happened in the first place but you know that ice cream calls me. I had less than a half cup though. So i'm getting better. Just enough to taste you know? I get full quick these days so I do have that working to my advantage. When's the next meeting and where guys?
