I can barely remember being 50. I was 59 in July. I hope to be thinner when I'm 60. Good luck to you all.

Bitter,

I have hear that 60 is the new 50, meaning that people feel 10 years younger than their parents did at the same age.

Suzie

Hello Okie neighbors ! I am from Muskogee, also eastern OK. I have not had surgery yet, but hoping to within the next couple of months. I have been to an educational meeting and have some of my doctor appointments scheduled. I am having my surgery done in Tulsa, by Dr. Fisher. I would love to chat with some of you on yahoo sometime. Anyway, just wanted to say "HI"

Chrissie

As soon as I get banded - I plan on starting a support group for bandsters. I have talked to a few people who would be interested in this. It sure could be exciting.

Well, that may be what they're saying but I have developed bursitis in my hip and it hurts a whole lot. Also I have muscle spasms, heart disease, diabetes, and a whole host of other things. If I had ever thought I'd be this old, I'd have definitely taken better care of myself. The bad thing is that I think it gets worse the older you get. So I plan to die early. That's the only way to avoid all those problems. Now if my body will just go along with my plan, everything will be hunky dory. But with my luck, I'll live to be 90.:nervous

Just thought I'd let you all know that I've lost about 30 pounds since May 11. This band thing is good though all is not perfect. It never is. But I've dropped two sizes and now can wear an 18. I like loose clothes. I hope to get to a 16 within the next year. I think the weight loss slows down as your body gets used to eating very little. It took me 4 fills to get restriction, but now I can't eat a lot. The problem is that what I can eat is fattening. I must get a grip. However, the doctor is making me take steroids for the bursitis in my hip and steroids run your blood sugar up, so I'll be without sweets in the next week. Maybe that will starve off a pound or two.

I've had a number of illnesses (mostly since I lost my hubby 10 years ago). I've had a fracture of my ankle in 3 places and had pins placed; had gall bladder surgery; had 5-way-bypass surgery; knee surgery...you are right it is tough to believe these are the golden years. BUT, since my banding surgery last mo. I've felt so much better. I've finally underwent a surgery I wanted :D It has made me feel and look younger....so golden is beginning to look pretty good to me. The alternative to the Golden Years is not a good one....so I'll take all the years I can get with my wonderful family.

Good luck to you.

Holy Cow, you're in worse shape than I am and that's saying a lot. I hope you recovered well from all those problems. Isn't life better after bypass? Mine has improved. I didn't even know I had a bad heart 13 years ago when I had my bypass. It's really major surgery, but I've felt so much better. Since I lost the 30 pounds (still have 30-40 to go) I have so much more energy. I always heard that people who lose weight have more energy, but I never did when I was on those innumerable diets. But I have energy now. Amazing. Life just may get better in those golden years.

Hello Everyone! I was banded in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Arturo Rodriquez on June 15, 2006. I have not yet had a fill but am curious as to where other Okies go to have the procedure done. I live in Wetumka so it is an equal distance from just about every place. Thanks!:biggrin1:

Hi to everyone. I live in OKC. I am getting my LapBand in Mexico. My insurance wouldn't cover anything, so it is South of the Border for me. I have never posted before, so I hope I am doing this right. I am certainly computer illiterate. I should get my 10 year old in here to help.

I am having surgery by Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Ciudad Acuna Mexico on October 20. I wish it were tomorrow, but gotta go when I can take the time off from work and the hubby can go with me. My mother in law is going also and having surgery the same day. I really enjoy reading everyone's postings. I have been reading a lot on lapbandtalk.com for several months now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
