Nexium mups and a pain pill that dissolves under your tongue. I walked to the pharmacy 1 block from hospital on Sunday and got 4 more boxes of Nexium mups-cost was $80 and they took my debit card. The two boxes of the pain pill lasted me for 5 days and did not need anything by that time. I did not need a prescriotion for the Nexium. Dr. Campos comes by your hospital room on your last evening and goes through all the medications you were on prior to the surgery and tells you how to take them. For me, he reduced my insulin regime drastically and told me to break or crush all my other pills and to take those one at a time. I found that crushing them was easier and taking them with a sip of water and then following with a Crystal Light popsicle. I also made a slushy out ot the softening popsicle and mixed the crushed pills wtih that like you would applesauce.

Hi Norma...

Thanks for responding...whats a mup? I'm already on Nexium...how many were in a box..I will try to figure out whether its cheaper here of there!

Thanks

kris

Nexium mups is a pill that dissolves in water. You can't take pills that you must swallow immediately after surgery. there were 14 tabs in a box and I got 4 boxes for the $80.

It's also less expensive if you buy the Nexium mups in 40 mg and break it in half - that way you get 28 days out of one box instead of 14 as Dr. Aceves prescribes 20 mg. We purchased the Nexium at 3 different drug stores while we were there in June and July and the price was exactly that same at all 3 stores, so am guessing it is something that is regulated in Mexicali. Just throwing that out there so you don't have to "shop around" while in Mexicali for the best price.

90 nexium capsules (not mups) here in the US costs 300 buckaroos. They don't sell the mups version here in the USA.

If you are taking blood pressure medicine talk to your PCP before the surgery. You should not crush them. I was doing that and my blood pressure went off the chart. Sometimes you can get one that you take twice a day and spread it out that way. So if you are taking any other meds be sure to talk to your PCP or pharmacist before you crush them.
