Anyone else have trouble with eggs on mushies?

Recommended Posts

I tried to eat a scrambled egg yesterday and it didn't go down well at all. I didn't get through half of it & I was very uncomfortable. I was careful to eat small bites, chew well, and eat slowly...but I guess I could have eaten too fast. I don't particularly like eggs anyway, but I know it's a good source of Protein so I was willing to eat it. I don't think I'll be trying it again for a while.

Jenn, I tried yesterday and it was awful. I've heard from a few other people that they just couldn't do eggs at all. It feels like it gets stuck. I'm back to a Protein Shake today. How're you doing?

That's exactly how it felt for me...like it got stuck. Horrible feeling!

I didn't eat anything else the rest of the night after that and I did a Protein shake this am. Right now I am eating some Nutrisystem homestyle mashed potatoes I had left after my last diet attempt. They are good & have added Protein. They seem to be going down fine (as does refried Beans, if I eat slowly).

I love sushi so I bought some ahi and ground it up really well with ponzu sauce and shiso leaf. It has a ton of Protein and it goes down really well. I'm not sure raw fish paste is for everyone but it works for me!

I tried refried Beans and they felt too sticky & thick.

It seems like most of the mushy foods are high carb/lower Protein. I have some ricotta cheese that I'm going to try later today. We'll see.

Yuck! I do not eat fish, period. I know it's a great source of Protein, but it makes me want to gag just thinking about it! However, I am glad you found a good Protein for you while on mushies. That's a good thing!

As far as the refried Beans, I thinned it out with taco sauce and a bit of sour cream...then chewed the dickens out of it! It's actually probably going to be my biggest mushie source of protein because I can't see blenderizing any meat and eating it! I'm not a big meat eater anyway, so that totally grosses me out.

I thought eggs would be a good protein, but it didn't work out as planned.

My wife can't eat eggs, but egg beaters work just fine. They are better for you anyway.

eggs are a mushie in some programs but they are rather high up on the food chain so a lot of people can't deal with them this early out. For me they were a lifesaver, though.

Someone mentioned ricotta and that reminded me of a couple of recipes Lulu shared with me when I was on mushies that I really enjoyed. Here they are:

ricotta bake:

1 container skim ricotta 15oz

1 frozen pckg of spinach thawd/drained well - you can also use any veggie - sometimes i'll take zuchinni/eggplant and saute till soft

1/2 cup parmesean cheese

1 egg

mix all together - put in a baking dish - add another 1/2c cheese on top and bake @ 350 till golden & bubbly - about 30mins

*i'll add some marinara or pesto sauce on top once done*

luff -

1 15oz container of lf ricotta

1 small tub of ff cool whip

half packet of sf Jello cheesecake pudding mix

half packet of sf chocolate pudding mix

combine - set over night - YUM

Can you post the receipe for the ahi tuna paste. I am several weeks away from mushies but love ahi tuna.

Thanks, Deanna

TennJenn - I still have trouble with eggs -- scrambled that is; I tried poached and they go down very easy ... scrambled and poached are the only 2 ways I will eat eggs -- and they by far aren't my favorite food.

I did the same thing with the refried Beans - taco sauce and sour cream - made them moister and a bit "thinner" so they went down easy - of course, it took me most of the day to eat the small container you get at Taco Bell.

I forgot about the ricotta cheese eeryone talked about -- may have to give that a try - Bearded may like it too.

This is my third day of mushies, and I'm digging the tuna salad I made the other day. I put two hard boiled eggs in it. I'm about to eat some in a few minutes!

Other than that, I've tried chili with a little cheese and sour cream, but I'm ready for some Beans too. I'd love some baked Beans, but I know that isn't the best choice.

Amanda, how did you do the tuna salad? Did you put it in the blender? I like boiled eggs, but I am scared to try it after the scrambled egg fiasco.

Vegas, what does ricotta cheese taste like? I'm scared to try it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
