My name is susan and i had the sleeve surgery on june 23rd. i had my first post op check up with my surgeon today. he removed the drainage tube (THANK GOODNESS!) . I was also weighed for the first time since the surgery. I have lost 8 pounds already! I am so relieved to see some results. it seems like an eternity since i started research, got a date, and began a pre op diet. I can't believe I am at the point of seeing some results. :laugh0: I do miss "eating" survivng on liquids for weeks is hard. I never imagined I would miss chewing so much! But, I know I will get there and I will be more healthy and look great when I do. I needed to share this news with all of my new friends!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I know how happy you must be with the weight loss. I also know how you feel about wanting to be able to "chew" ... liquids aren't any fun; however it also doesn't last forever (thank God!)

Also, great name I must say so myself :001_tt2: (I'm a Susan too!)

Congratulations on the weight loss. For chewing, I ate sf Jello and sf popsicles when I was sick of drinking.

OK...drainage tube? I know I will have a Foley (oh, joy of joys!), but first I heard of this. Congrats on your loss. Start my preliminary liquid diet on July 19. My birthday is the 25th *sigh* But it is worth it!

I've heard that not all doctors use a drainge tube -- mine did and it was the only thing that hurt after surgery.

Ohhhh mannnnn Dont say that....... I actualy took Nursing courses at the University, and stuff like that made me change my carreer! I thought I could take it but, came the DAY, I fainted hahaha!!! I couldnt stand it!!

Oh well I guess I will have to suck it up and pray my DR is one of the ones that does not put a drainage.

It wasn't excrutiatingly painful, more of an annoyance ... or a bad bruise --- hard to explain, but very tolerable. You'll do fine IF your surgeon uses one. It was only there from surgery until Sunday -- surgery was on Friday.

BTW -- like your new avatar -- fits with the "sexy" part I think

The drainage tube didn't bother me at all. When they took it out, I was surprised at how much there was to take it out. It didn't really hurt coming out either, it just felt a bit uncomfortable was all.

It didn't hurt coming out - was a very strange feeling - but not pain ... can't explain it, just a weird feeling. Once they took it out, the incision was a bit sore, but again, nothing untolerable.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
