Hi there!

Thanks to VegasAngel for introducing me to this site. We met while we were both being sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali and found out we actually only live a few miles from each other!

I was sleeved 6/13 and have been doing very well. I'm still a little sore and working hard to get all my Protein in, but each day gets a little bit better. Unfortunately, I've had to return to a more hectic schedule than planned, but it's working out ok.

So, here is the part where I tell my story. I'm sure it is very similar to most of yours. I am 32 years old. I have been overweight my entire life (age 6 is the first time I remember kids calling me fat) and of course I have done the up and down diets since I was a teenager. I frequently lost weight and my most successful attempts were 50 lbs and 120 lbs. And just like I read so frequently, I gained it all back plus some. My family is all overweight and we often equate food with love. We Celebrate with food, we mourn with food, we talk about food when we're not eating... you get the idea.

I have been looking into surgery for about 6 years. A few years back, I went through all of the pre-surgery stuff here in the US and had it denied by my insurance. My newest insurance has it as a written exclusion, so I didn't even bother. I have been looking into surgery with Dr. Aceves for a couple of years, watching the message boards, etc... With my research, I felt very comfortable that he was the right surgeon. Of course my family and friends that are in the know were a bit worried about me going to Mexico, but the hospital was great, the staff was great, and Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos were wonderful. I felt that they actually had my long term interest in mind everytime they spoke with me.

I look forward to this opportunity to get my health under control before it goes bad, and hopefully increase my success at having children. I know this journey will take me through the rest of my life and that it will be hard work along the way. But I knew it was time to change and get myself to the person I want to be. I've lost that in the past few years and I know feeling better will help me find myself again.

I appreciate the chance to get to know those of you who are going through the same things as me. I know I will need support in order to be successful in reaching my goals. Hopefully, I will be able to provide that needed support to someone else as well.

Awesome, we could go out and order 1 bowl of Soup for all three of us - haha!

:biggrin0: that's if we could all decide on the same soup! That's too funny -- but oh so true!

I think Cyates is venturing off to Lebanon in the near future aren't you?

I leave for Lebanon in 10 days. I'm just trying to make it through some crazy work stuff. I have to fly up to Reno on Monday, then drive to Carson City, work all day and fly back home. I am NOT looking forward to our 16+ hour day, the 8 hour ones are exhausting me as it is. I am ready for some vacation relaxation!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
