What size "stomach" do you have......I can't remember how to even spell the "b" word....My husband has nicknamed it the bannana!

My surgeon mostly prefers to use a 32......just interested and wondering if the size has anything to do with long term success or not?

I have a 32F stomach. I think the word you are looking for is Bougie.

It's not as much the bougie size that matters as the technique. There is a doc in TJ that uses a 32F and her patients can eat a LOT after surgery, triple what I can. Yet other docs use a larger bougie but a better technique and have a smaller stomach.

As long as you go to someone uber experienced and uses a bougie in the 30s, that is good.

Mine uses a 32 f and is adamant that you have to use the smallest size possible or you don't get good long-term results.

Of course, using a small one doesn't mean the surgeon is going to make a small sleeve. But you can't make a small one with a 60 f no matter how good you are and some docs still are using sizes like that.

In this one study, they compared different sizes and concluded that you need to remove at least 500 cc of stomach to have long-term success.

I went to the same surgeon as WASa, Dr. Alberto Acesves, so am sure he used the same size "banana" ... however that means nothing to me as far as size; however, he did tell me that my stomach is now about as big around as his little finger, which is pretty small and totally blows me away! He is such a great doctor.

Ok, totally, off subject, but do all of the rooms have DVD players? I was wondering about bringing dvds for my wife to watch?

She is also going to dr aceves.

I don't think any of the rooms have DVD players -- but I will ask. We watched DVDs on my fiance's computer ... looks like you could plug in a DVD player to the tv if you had a portable one; however, from what I can see, they are not built in. I will double check though and let you know for certain.

I have a 32F bougie tummy size. My surgeon apparently had to remove a couple of centimeters of length, he said that my sleeve is actually a little "shorter" because of the scar tissue and damage stomach tissue that he had to remove due to the lovely band.

That's about the best I can explain it without drawing a picture since he drew me a picture, it's hard to put it into words.

My fiance was very interested in seeing the surgery, so Dr.Aceves allowed us to watch the DVD. He makes a DVD of every surgery he does and then he and his staff review every one he told us. In fact, he stood in my room while we were watching it and explained what he was doing, etc. ... he kept saying "I'll be back" and then he stayed he said "Oh heck, I enjoy watching this stuff" ... LOL. He is such a great doctor.

Dr. Aceves uses a 36 bougie now and oversews the staple line so you end up with a 34 size.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
