Did your doctor tell you an expected weight loss?

I'm just curious, did your sleeve surgeon tell you what he expected you would lose with the surgery?

I had my consult with my doctor this week, and I was kinda surprised by the comments he made. He flat-out said to me "you won't become skinny" and that I'll only have 60% EWL at most. I know he's saying that because he is trying to be realistic, but I thought that was a fairly discouraging thing to say to a new patient. Doesn't my weight loss really depend on the things I do (or don't do) with the sleeve? I was just reading about a guy at OH who lost over 200lbs with the sleeve. I want to be that guy. I don't want to be thinking in my head "okay that's about the limit for loss with a sleeve."

for me my insurance is requiring that I lose 10% of my weight to for approval. im currently struggling to make it.

Atkins?

Or, modified Atkins, if it has flour, sugar, potatoes, rice, corn, or peas don't put it in your mouth. Eat anything else that you wish.

I did a modified Atkins. I did their shakes for breakfast and lunch and then ate a dinner of a lean meat/fish and vegetables. If I got hungry in between I ate a piece of cheese or a slice of turkey.

Hi there,

To answer your question directly, YES. My Dr. has told me an expected weight loss. According to him, and he's done the most VSGs in GA and is at a Bariatric Center of Excellence etc..., 2 wks after surgery, I'll be down 15 lbs. 6 weeks after surgery, I'll be down 30 lbs. 6 months after surgery, I'll be down 75 lbs. and then the rest will be how well I'm helping myself along with diet and exercise in addition to the sleeve restriction. I want to lose 100 lbs, so I'm thrilled with his estimations. He says I will look GREAT in my clothes, and should wait 2 years before considering tummy tuck to give my skin as much chance to snap back as possible. Be optimistic, be hopeful, and be ready -- you are going to FEEL great, LOOK great, and be the healthiest you've ever been. :biggrin0:
