Question about losing the pounds

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow banders! I have a quick question. I was banded about 3 weeks ago. I have lost about 20 lbs thus far. The only thing is that I am holding steady and have not lost any more weight in a few days. Is this typical? (To lose a few pounds before your first fill). My first fill is oct 9th. I'm hoping to either lose a few more pounds by then. In the mean time, any comments and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Kelli,

For me that was my pattern. I would lose and then have a while where I didn't. I think the body needs to adjust.

One thing that helped me was to stop weighing myself a lot. It made me crazy if I was on plan one day and didn't lose weight (which wasn't realistic). So I only weighed 1X a month. My clothes getting looser really gave me the indication of how I was doing.

Best of luck

The average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds per week so you definitely can't expect to lose every day. In fact, you can't even expect to lose every week. You have to remember, the weight didn't come on overnight and it won't come off overnight either.

The best thing you can do is to track your calories, stick to band sized portions, and exercise. If you do these things the weight will come off.

Best wishes.

ahhhgghhh!!! please please please stay away from the scale. Missy said it nice and I agree with her 100%. don't weigh yourself more than once a month. the scale is a number and you don't need to get on it much as long as you are following the rules. the weight will take care of itself if do what you are supposed to.

You can expect it but it may just lead to constant disappointment and frustration....Been there and done that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
