Got Band Today Having Trouble with Water :(

I got my band today and feeling pretty good. I am trying to drink water, but having to drink super slow to avoid pain and throwing up. Is this normal? Any suggestions to get it down easier? I am drinking room temperature water. Instructions for today is water only and I have not had anything else.

My first day was very slow. You probably won't get a lot down for few days. It's normal and you will see a difference tomorrow and every day that passes. I was banded 3 weeks ago.

you are very swollen inside from major surgery.....baby sips and each day that passes, its gonna get easier but, keep on sipping....if still an issue or you cant drink at all, tell dr asap

Congratulations, JennyBean -- wishing you a speedy recovery.

They had me drink some applejuice at the hospital - could you try that? It helped a lot with the nausea for me.

Suck on ice chips.. or eat a popsicle... it helps alot..also remember to walk when you can..

Try to walk as much as you can. I know it's uncomfortable, especially that first day, but it does help.

Did they send you home with any medication to help with nausea?

It does hurt I won't lie. But remember to take your pain medication and keep sipping water so not to get dehydrated... I made that mistake and it wasn't nice (dehydration that is)... I had a constant feeling like I needed to burp that at times was awful. But it does get better day after day (although at the moment it might not feel like it) I went through so many emotions such as 'what have I done ' and cried...but now ( a month later)... 3 stone down and a dress size down ... I don't regret it at all. For me it took about a week to feel human again...some on herewas lucky and felt better after days. I am sharing this with you not to scare you but for you too know this is all normal...as people shared this with me at the time...and once I knew it was normal it made it easier to bare x just remember to take it easy on your self at the moment and let time do what is best...and that is heal x hugs to you x x

I couldn't hardly drink day one.. Ice lollies for me were the answer. And like cg said tiny sips. You will feel better soon
