Hello, i was banded in mexico two and a half weeks ago and in mexico the moment you come out of surgery your band is already restricted to the size of a quarter plus inflammation my question is if anyone has gotten it in mexico and are you able to eat a little more as time passes, right now i can eat half a cup of food once a day and the other times its maybe two tablespoons of food and thats all.... Can anyone please help me with this give me an idea of what to expect

My band is non adjustable its the first type of bands that came out (less expensive). I know that the opening is supposed to end up at 3 cm and I dont see a surgeon here in houston I speak to my surgeon in mexico twice a week and to a nutritionist once a week unless theirs a complication then i would go see him... At first it was hard because I was a big eater so the liquid diet and pain made it hard, im on my third week and i can honestly say things are getting better im 99% pain free but it seems like a slow process i just wanna know if with time ill be able to handle solid foods and will i be able to eat a little more.

No I dont want you to scare me anymore than these ladies have done I hope their very proud of themselves I did my research this is something that is still being done in mexico and if things dont wirk out I will just go and have it removed like people do here.. Seriously, I thought they stopped doing the 4cc bands in Mexico. No wonder you're not hungry but I feel you're in a precarious state keeping with a 4cc band. I hope you have no complications but I would try to find a US doctor for follow up seriously! I'm not trying to chew you out but what if your band needs adjusting? Do you have to go back to Zmexico? Or, can you follow up with a US doctor in case of any complications! I'm just concerned about your "healthy" welfare. Bes of luck to you!

Mexican surgeons could ONLY get the old 4cc bands, probably of lower quality also, so those who go to Mexico are gambling with their health, more than those who get their bands in the US.

Who knows, Mexican surgeons have probably RAN OUT of 4cc bands, since Allergan has halted product, and it could be that Mexican surgeons have now concocted some type of "vooddoo" procedure...aka non-adjustable band again....

Mexican surgeons CANNOT get the new AP bands, they are ONLY sold to surgeons in the USA.

Thank you for being kind to me I had this done only two weeks ago I truly didnt need these ladies scaring me the way they just did , I honestly dont have any problems or pain I just wanted to know if later on I will be able to eat a little more my nutritionist told me that I will that its too soon and that i must follow the diet I just wanted an opinion from people here I never thought id get bombarded with negativity and cruelty

I wasn't trying to scare you. Nor was I being mean. I am telling you the facts out of genuine concern. If I was doing something that was a major potential risk to my health, I'd pray someone would be honest and tell me.

I would be scared if I were you too, btw. But it's obvious you got some very bad information before surgery otherwise you'd have never agreed to an ancient,outdated band that's no longer used in the US due to the very high complication rate. Now that you know the truth, you have the power to seek help from someone locally to help assure you don't run into serious problems in the future.

Wow, that is totally uncalled for.

One, when you put your business online on a pubic forum, it's no longer just your business. You made your business everyone's business the minute you posted it here.

pampi whether you recognise it or not, that's what these ladies are trying to give you - support. Trying to get a doctor locally is actually a great idea just to keep an eye on you to see how you're going. Even with a perfectly working band, it's not a bad thing to have regular aftercare. Another thing about having someone local, is that complications with the band can sometimes occur very fast, and sometimes you don't have to time to get yourself to Mexico. The risk is there for all banders, not just in your specific case.

Thank you for understanding me and giving me true heartfelt advice Believe me I will go se a Dr here but also make this work give it a chance im not the only one whose gotten it done theirs many others with wonderful stories im gonna do my best to be another one of those stories ... Thank you

I may have posted this before but if not here it is again. The 4cc lap band is still an FDA approved product and is still manufactured by Allergan (not old and discounted to Mexico). Most U.S doctors opt to use the newer bands because they have fewer complications.
