I think my Band may have Slipped - really scared

Recommended Posts

I have had the band for five years. I had a fill about two weeks ago and everything was fine. On sunday morning, I tried to drink Water and it would not stay down. Since then nothing will stay down unless I take super small sips of water. I keep throwing everything up, including my medication (I take cymbalta - not keeping it down is causing major problems - I think I am going through withdrawal). The band feels like it is way too tight, something is sitting on my chest, I am light headed and feel terrible. Given I was fine with my fill two weeks ago, do you think there is a chance the band has slipped? I have never had this experience before. I have had the band too tight but never a slip. This doesn't look good. I see the doctor at 3:30 today and I am terrified.

Take a deep breath, it will be ok, over the 8 years I've had a lap band, each fill was different and I never experienced the same side effects.

If you've only been experiencing these side effects since your last fill, it's probably not band slippage, you are probably just way too tight, which can cause misery.

As I've mentioned before sometimes it takes about 2-3 weeks before a fill will settle in, and now you are feeling it now and it is too tight.

You are doing the right thing about seeing your surgeon today, you probably won't need but a little bit out like maybe .2cc, but let your know you only want a little out, sometimes the surgeon will take too much out and it may take a long time to get where you want to be.

Typically band slippage happens over time and not immediately and usually happens when you've been too tight for long periods of time and eat too much and purge your food daily, but this is not case in you situation.

Good luck

Just from personal experience it sometimes takes a few days or even a couple weeks for you to really feel if your recent fill is too much or just right. Based on what you are experiencing I wouldn't say your band has slipped but that you are too tight and need to have some of your last fill taken out. I have experienced a slipped band (several times) and have not had any of the issues you have mentioned. Good Luck at the doctor.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
