Lap band and Salads...

Recommended Posts

I've been craving a nice healthy salad, but have not been brave enough to try and eat one. Just curious on everyone's experience with salads??? I'm 5 1/2 months post op with 10.3 cc's in a 14cc band.

I'm 8 months post op and eat salad everyday. My salads have iceburg and romaine lettuce grape tomatoes, thin sliced cucumbers, onions, shredded carrots and onions . I cut the lettuce small, slice the mushrooms, peel the cucumbers and I put it all in a big plastic bowl, add two tablespoons of blue cheese dressing inn it. I put the lid on the bowl and seal it. I shake the bowl until the dressing covers all the salad ingredients and I have one awesome salad. I also have absolutely no problems eating my salad either. I chew well and enjoy . So I don't think it's going to hurt you but ask your doctor if you're that concerned.

I've not had any trouble eating salad. I do have a friend that has the gastric sleeve and they have to eat much like a bandster, small bites, chew a lot... she had only had two problems eating and both times it was a salad. Just try it slowly and see how it goes...

Thanks y'all! I think I'll try having a salad for lunch today! I'm very cautious about my chewing so I know I'll chew well!

I can't eat lettuce at all. I instantly get stuck. But I try other greens. Sometimes I'm good other times its a no go. It's a learning process for all of us.

Just had a small taco salad, and ate part of the salad focus in on the meat and refried Beans and the cheese.

Never had a problem with Lettuce but rather concentrate on the Protein first.

I didn't not try to eat one yet, I absolutely hate the feeling of being "stuck" so I don't venture out of my normal foods... Maybe one day I'll try! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
