First full day after surgery, what are you intaking?

I was banded yesterday (go ME!) and feel a little miserable today. Totally expected (thanks to this website!), but am feeling a bit nauseated and have severe pain in my right shoulder. Having trouble staying hydrated, haven't ingested anything but Water (sip, sip sip). I am afraid to try and eat "food liquids" that are on my diet plan, such as Protein shake, broth, yogurt, Jello, for fear of making my nausea worse.

What did you eat(drink) the first couple of days out from surgery?

Popsicles were my lifesaver during the first couple of days! I had the regular ones (not sugar-free) because I wasn't getting any other calories. I think the coolness helped too, and they tasted amazing to me!

I chewed on ice chips. If you don't have a store like Sonic or a place that sells tiny ice, chop yours up in a blender and eat that. It's soothing and it helps with the urge to chew. I have to confess, I didn't want anything the first few days, but I forced myself to sip on protein shots - I couldn't handle shakes at first, but the shots are great.

The first couple of days after surgery I had crystal light, water, diet snapple, sugar-free jello and sugar-free Popsicles. I didn't have nausea though so I wonder if any of these will help you. What is your diet plan from your doctor?

What are protein shots??

Just googled protein shots, I see they are sold at Costco and a few other online spots... Body choice is the brand I believe, anyone out there use these?
