I'm having my LapBand procedure done on August 9th! Prior to surgery, I will be on a 2 week liquid pre-op diet.

How much weight did you lose during the pre-op phase? What can I expect immediately after surgery? What's the usual down time? Feeling a little anxious, but super excited!

I am scheduled for surgery on July 11. I am on day 6 of my pre-op diet and have list 6 pounds. I am eating I low cal, under 300 calorie meal and about 3-4 Protein Drinks a day. I do not use the Protein Shakes. I have found some great Protein powders at bariatric choice.com. I especially like the orangeade and lemonade! Getting excited!

First off I'm suer excited for you! Second I do believe it varies from person to person how much they lose. I was at my consultation today as my surgery is in 3 weeks and they told me not to worry to much about the # of pounds I lose during my surgery but more about following the diet to a T. Also I was told 1-2 weeks down time. The Doc said that he has had come people recover faster and be back to work quickly. It also depends on what you do for work. You will also be on a diet after surgery as well. Hope all goes great and i'm SUPER excited to see your progress, along with mine! Best Wishes!!! XX

Congratulations Lolo on scheduling your procedure! It is not an easy road, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy :) . I'm 6 days post-op (June 26th I was banded) and I'm not going back to work until next Monday the 8th. I'm not going to lie, it's been a rough recovery but every day gets better.

Read through these forums, ask a lot of questions, and find some other people who are being banded the same time as you to share the experiences. Best of Luck and you will do great!

Hi there! I was banded with plication 11/12/12 :) & couldn't be happier with my decision. Ive lost -40 lbs and am still loosing! My doctor did not require a pre-op diet other than 2 days of Clear Liquids prior. In the first week I lost 12 lbs. after surgery be prepared for the gas pains. I had them really bad in my shoulders. Keep up with the pain meds and you'll be fine! The biggest advice I and I'm sure many others would give you is just to walk as much as you can post op. It gets the gas out and you feel so much better. I would say within a week you will feel somewhat normal other than weak from lack of eating but I didn't have much appetite. Once I could eat, one bite of a scrambled egg filled me up. But don't worry! It won't stay like that. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
