I got lucky with my pre op diet. I was already doing the Medifast diet so I was allowed to continue that up til 2PM the day before surgery although I switched to liquids 3 days before so I would be ready for my post op diet. Just keep thinking about how you are making a great change for your life! I am sure you will do great. Good Luck!!

I had to do the 10 day liquid diet. My suggestion is load up on various Soups and Protein Shakes. Socially i was going to die, no going to lunch with friends or anything by Day 4 it was all good though, I cheated 2-3 times. 2 days I ate 3 baby carrots, and 1 day I had 3 grapes. Not too bad though lol

Hello,

Thanks for the reply so did you still have your surgery even though you cheated those 3 times.

I am so scared I won't be able to loose the 20lbs by the 22nd of July I basically have to looses a pound a day in order to do my surgery!!!

I am going to push through the next couple of day and pray that my body drops the weight nessecary to have my surgery.

Yeah surgery went along as scheduled, my surgeon said he was very proud of my weightloss before surgery. Like I said it is really about shrinking the liver so that it is more easily moved and they way to do that is Protein Protein protein. I worked out at the gym Day1 - Day 7 but then stopped the last three days but it was mild exercise mostly weight machines maybe 2 reps of 20.

Just posting an update.

Day 4 of my diet and I'm going strong!!

Down 8 pounds already and web though I have some urges to cheat I am not!!!!

I even went with my roommates to sonic last night and I honestly didn't even feel the urge to eat something it all looked good don't get me wrong but i don't feel the need to want to eat it.

Today will be another challenge as its July 4th and I'm going to a festival with food and BBQ and adult drinks but ill push through it cause this weight loss is critical for me to have my surgery and for me to live a healthy and safer life in the long run!!!

I CAN DO THIS!!!!

You can do it! I had to do a 4 week pre-op diet, which consisted of 4 slimfast shakes a day, that was it! I'm now 3 weeks post op and I've lost 40 pounds! 25 of which I lost on the slimfast diet!

Thanks!!!

It's frustrating I'm only 8 pounds away from what my surgeon want me to be at and all I want it some fruit or a salad but he said NO!!!

Oh well it will all be worth it in the long run!!!

Just hungry feeling and a little shaky at time!!

Not going to lie, it was so so hard. But keep in mind what it's for, it's worth it. I read a lot to keep my mind off food, it helped me. You will just have to find something to keep your mind off it.

July 5,2013 Just started my Protein diet 2 shakes a day then high protein dinner with veggies. Question for all is it ok to mix powder with fat free milk instead of Water? Looking forward to my new life I know its going to be tuff but bring it on.

I made sugar free popsicle's with the sugar free, 0 calorie 0 carb drink mix, it did help! I also purchased a snow come maker the crushed ice kept my mouth busy! Also, occupy yourself. The evenings were really hard for me so I went for walks, swam, went to movies and stayed busy around the house. Hope this helps!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
