I know you are worried about getting stuck, but rest assured that As long as You are on a liquid or soft diet and you take your time eating your chances of getting stuck are slim. When the day comes that you are getting solid foods like steak and chicken then you need to take it slow as you introduce foods and make sure you eat slowly and chew well. I'm almost 15 months out ( and met my goal weight) I can honestly say the half dozen times I have been stuck, was because I broke one of those two rules.

As for a BM, I would use a mild stool softener/laxative like Miralax or colace and it wouldn't hurt to add a probiotic yogurt (like activia) to your diet for a week or so.

Good luck

Try some hot sweetened tea. That really helped me!

Hi! I had the band with plication done 5/24. I also had a hernia repair. I think the hernia repair has a longer Recovery. I haven't had any problems out of my lapband but when I get something stuck in my band I kinda stop talking, make a weird face (as I've been told) and then take a sip of something. It hasn't come up yet at all but it's more uncomfortable but luckily it doesn't last long. I don't know if my doc put a fill in during surgery since I had the plication. My 2 week follow up is Monday so I guess I'll find out about fills then! Good luck!

Thank you so much. Can you describe what happens when it is stuck? That would help a lot. Also I finally had my first bowl movement today. My grandmothers, potato Soup did the trick.

Okay so i am on to thicker liquids now like potato Soups, Tomato and things like that. What has helped me was snacking on sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles. Today I did break my diet for the first time and I was nervous but, I feel nothing was stuck. I had the inside of a seafood cake but, It was not really bready. So it went down easily. I wont break my diet again because I am too nervous. But just know that is will all be worth it soon :)

No liquids for 30 minutes before and after eating. If you get stuck, walk until the feeling goes away. I am 10 months and I have gotten stuck a few times and just get up and walk. Just chew chew chew and eat slowly. I get stuck when I eat too fast.

My first experience getting stuck was horrible. I got stuck for the first time this past Monday. I was eating a piece of steamed broccoli and I didn't chew down the stem properly. The pain when it got stuck was really, really, really uncomfortable. I had to excuse myself from the table, went up to my bedroom and started pacing. Don't drink liquids if you are stuck, it only make it worst! I had to keep spitting out the slime. I thought I was going to pass out from the feeling... my head was throbbing!

Finally, when I felt that the broccoli passed, I went and made a cup of hot, herbal tea and sipped it slowly and took 2 Tylenols.

My challenge is that (1) only my husband knows I was banded, not my 3 kids (2) when the 5 of us are eating together I forget to CONCENTRATE on eating small bites and chew, chew, chewing! Since then I keep in mind what the clinic always reminds me of: "Eat SMALL bites (the size of your pinky fingernail) of healthy food and CHEW it well!"

I am experiencing this right now and I feel like I'm gonna die. I tried walking it off but it's not working. I'm Day 3 and had watered down yogurt which is allowed but its stuck. I don't know what to do!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
