Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning' date=' and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day.

Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?[/quote']

I am scheduled for July 11 also! Day 6 of my pre op diet down 6 pounds! I am getting very excited! My ore op diet is for 14 days, is this the average?

I have bad gas to begin with in my chest and get shoulder pain. Anyone have advice for the best gas medicine? I'm afraid my gas pain will be horrific!

Nice! Band twins! I am also on a 14 day pre op diet (and on day 6 :) - I think 2 weeks is mentioned here frequently but I've seen people post everything from 3-4 weeks to no pre op diet at all. Lots of variation in what docs require.

As I understand it - walking around and using hot packs and cold packs can help the left shoulder pain - but OTC gas remedies don't do much because the air that is used to inflate your body cavity during surgery isn't actually in your digestive tract - it's in all the areas around it - so I think eventually your body just reabsorbs it. From everything I have read the best remedy is moving around (even slowly).

Happy to say I'm a "banded" woman. Surgery went fine. Surgery was at 9 and I was finally allowed to have 1/2 ounce clear liquid after 4:30. I have to say room temperature chicken broth and tea are the best I remember having in a very long time. The nurse gave me a stack of 1 ounce cups and syringe and I'm measuring exact and timing on my IPhone. Last thing I want to do is get sick. I've been up to the restroom twice with help. Every hour seems a little better than the last. Stay positive ladies, I'm planning on dreaming size 10 tonight. Until later Vickie

In a little more than twelve hours my surgery to begin my banding will be underway! I'm scheduled for 11:30am EST, reporting to the hospital at 9:30am. I am SOOOO EXCITEDDD! Spending the evening taking my "before" photos, making sure everything is packed, and then it'll be time to try and sleep and get up to start driving at 7am for our commute to the hospital. Can't wait to report further!

Keep it up,

Maggie

I took no meds I walked it off. Everytime I would feel the pressure I would get up and walk. I ended up with no pain in my left shoulder and I'm 1 week post op.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
