Hi all,

Spent the afternoon over in Boone visiting with high school friends who are identical twins. They inherited their parents home there, and will be retiring to Boone in the future.

Sushi is acting a bit more energetic these days...she remembers where to find the food and Water dishes down the hall. She tires quickly, and we do not allow her to climb any stairs. Just to see her wag her tail makes us happy...

Janet, will definitely share pictures of the flower boxes after they are stained and planted with flowers. We are also looking for oak barrel halves...but will not plant them until after we get the deck refinished. Before fall, but we have a short growing season here.

Terri, what is free style quilting?

Sorry for choppy posts...assertive iPad this evening.

Don't be jealous Janet...come visit! :)

We miss family and friends...but we have wanted to be here for so many years...this is a dream long in the making to be realized. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one. This reality came into focus for us in 2011...

Diane...I hope you enjoyed the time with your family...glad that you had an opportunity to take a time out from your stressful days!

Michelle...your inner clock needs to be reset. J/k...I wish I could be a morning person. Not going to happen though.

Nicole, you have done so well with your transition to banded life...long may it continue!

Dawn...what does the weekend hold? Good to read that you finally have space to breathe!

Janet...good to read you have discovered a remedy to help you sleep. It was scary for me...throwing up and choking every night. I am so thankful that is hopefully history for me now.

Be back tomorrow...hope everyone sleeps well!

Free motion quilting is like the fair game where you hold the pen still and move the paper around under it, only in this case, the needle of the machine is the pen and you move the fabric around under it. I will bring a sample on Wednesday.

Well I didn't drink my hot chocolate before bed and here I lay wide awake.

I had a really late dinner and just stayed up long enough to make it a couple hours before going to bed.

Janet...I guess the schedule of the evening becomes more important. We had a "off day" as far as following routines yesterday.

It was not a good night for me as a result. I'm in uncharted territory now, and must make my former needs a requirement.

I hope you eventually got some restorative sleep.< /p>

I'm going to have to take it easy today, and follow a schedule and stay with liquids and 1 meal of benign ingredients.

Terri, thank you for letting me see a sample of your work. I am a visual learner, so seeing an example will help more than any amount of words.

I hope everyone will enjoy a good and stress free day...

Hello! I wish I could sleep past 6 am! Oh well. I do take naps though. Yesterday I went to see my friend who is bedridden. she had an operation on a hernia. She's the only one that I told that I had lap band. She let me raid her closet for clothes and oh my goodness I got the cutest stuff. She's not very skinny anymore so she can't fit into all these beautiful clothes. She shops at Ann Taylor, loft and J.Crew. So I got these beautiful dresses and tops and summer suit oh my God I'm so happy.

It's a great way to have a wardrobe while I'm losing weight because once I'm done with them I'll give them back to her.

Carol, what kind of stain do you use? My mom's husband just made me a beautiful flower box that I need to stain before I put the flowers in. And what to you line it with so the wood doesn't get ruined? ( How many questions from a little city girl)

Terri, I wish I knew how to quilt! I have always loved them was never taught to sew. And now I just don't have the time.

Janet, I love being busy as long as its a good busy. I think I would sleep for a week if i had nothing to do and be super lazy, never clean my house. So having a busy life keeps my adrenaline up enough where i actually have energy to clean the house too if that makes any sense.

What is everyone else doing today. I'm doing homework and cleaning my house today, so pretty mellow. If I get it all done today then I can do one of my finals tomorrow, one on Tuesday one on Wednesday then I'll be off of school until the 6th of July!

Has anyone tried the herbalife Protein Shakes? I'm going to order one canister along with their Protein boost to make the shakes 30g of protein with 170 cal. Seems a bit high in calories but they are intended as Meal Replacements soooooo... I got ones kind of shake from Walmart and they just don't do the trick. I added a shake to my diet because I don't feel like eating in the morning but I need to because of the workouts. I'm not too tight in the morning to eat I just feel l just couldn't even look at anything.

Good afternoon, my friends.

Sounds like a good day for all so far. :)

It's overcast here today and expected to be up to 90. Not sure how much I will be doing outside. If Audrey ever gets out of bed, she and I may do something since I don't see her much these days. I have been in contact w/ Ericka quite a bit though it has slowed the last few days. At school she has WiFi so she will message me sometimes on my phone through Google Hangouts and send pictures, etc. She is having a great time. Lol, on Father's Day she told me they made Cuy and she didn't eat it and had chicken instead even though they were trying to convince her. What is Cuy, GUINEA PIG. UCK! It's very common in South America though. We used to have those as pets she certainly doesn't want to try it. (That's my girl). :) She is having a great time though. They were trying to plan a weekend to go to the Galapagos Islands but their coordinator said you need more than a weekend and it's very expensive. There is some other island though that is a "mini Galapagos" so she is hoping they can go there or get to the beach. It is soooo beautiful where she is. Brad was so sweet before she left and gave her $500 towards her trip for spending $. He knows the trip alone was a lot for us to finagle and he wanted her not to worry about $ while she is there since it is a once in a lifetime opportunity so she would have $ to do the things she may not have by being on a tight budget. July 3rd I am driving out to see him w/ Audrey and with his son, Owen. It should be fun, plus I miss him! :( I attached a picture of Ericka (far left) with some of her friends in a National Park in Cuenca, Ecuador the city she is living in now with her host family.

Michelle, gosh, I wish I could get up at 6!!! I need half your energy. I am happy to hear you will have a break coming soon w/ school. I hope you have a nice weekend.

Carole, so happy Sushi is happy. I, too, LOVE the view of where you are. I love mountain views. Some years back Brad and I and our kids did a road trip to the Smokies and stayed in a house in the cabin. It was the most beautiful scenery!!

Di, I love the pic on FB of you and your daughter and granddaughter... talk about family resemblance. How are you doing?

Nicole, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your weekend. How are you liking your fitbit?

Terri and Dee, what are your plans this weekend?

Janet, I don't know how you do it w/ as little as you sleep and as active as you are. No wonder your ticker is dropping like mad! :)

Off to get some housework done! Have a great one!

Michelle,

We used a semi-transparent Olympic stain to preserve the wood. It shows the wood grain, but gives it extra color to contrast with the railings. The liners are available at just about any plant nursery. Some conform to the shape of the planter like an above ground swimming pool, others are rigid and are like a plant box inside the planter.

The growing season is so short, I don't know if we will find the rigid ones, which is my preference to keep soil off the deck.

I hope you ace your finals!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
