I have horizon bcbs- there is a medical policy section on their website that clearly outlined what had to be met to have it covered- call your insurance- you pay them and make them tell you what they consider comorbities

So far it sounds like we three could share the same closet! I think I am older than you rwo. I'm 49 and your pictures that are smaller on my phones screen than my pinky finger nail look to be in your twenties. I would like to keep up with you two as well. June 13 is fast approaching! That will be one down, two to go! I will be last, prob in September.

I envy ALL of you!! I just had my first seminar scheduled and it's not until June 11th!! I haven't even met my surgeon yet, but I'm sure he won't call me skinny (heck nothing about me is!) I'm 5'5 and close to my highest ever at 255! (embarrassed face) I'm in size 18 too but I hate it soo much. I just can't wait to get the balls to rolling so I can be rid of this fat girl once and for all! Good Luck to you all and happy weight loss!

Baygirl... I'm not sure what you gathered from my post that made you assume what you clearly have assumed about me. I started my research last year... I was athletic in shape and in fantastic Health until having my daughter at 20. I've gained and lost over 100lbs multiple times in the past 9 years. It's been over a year since I began researching and talking to friends and strangers about the good the bad and the ugly and i made a decision... In January I went to my surgeons office for a consultation after THOROUGH research... I have been seeing a nutritionist, NP at the surgeons office, my primary MD, 4 specialists And monthly support groups as well as online support groups, this forum, and Private friendships I have built from these different sources every month since january. Including a walking group with pre and post op patients... When i started this post it was bc i met the actual surgeon... That does not mean i have not put in the time and research! I do not know what makes you the end all be all of WLS but I will tell you that 3 months after surgery I bet I will have complaints - and days will suck... But nothing has sucked more than being uncomfortable in my own skin since the day I became pregnant. I have fought the demons in my head for 9 years and this Is my last resort... I am ready. More ready than I bet you could say you were. And in 5 years when I'm whining about not having beer or getting divorced (which is ridiculous) - I hope you're off this website so I can get the support I need. People like you do not help. The good bad and ugly of surgery helps me and I cherish every post I see - but your post was stereotypical and an uneducated response to what clearly are your own problems... Not mine. I am the nicest person and I have been nothing but supportive on here. I haven't had one complaint about anyone I've met or spoke with on here until you.

Bayou,

Not to add to what you have already said but I think you came out a little strong. It sounds like she knows what she wants and is getting her self prepared for the journey ahead. Alot of the things you are mentioning are true and people need to understand but bringing negative comments about people failing after getting a lap band. Everyone is human and we all make mistakes, I know I do! I sure knew what I got myself into before I got banded last month and know its going to be a challenge and learning experience for me. I'm pretty sure she knows what she's getting herself into and has a good mindset going into it.

Connie, I will just say this...nah I'm gonna say a lot but hope you read it all...heehee

1) congratulations on standing up for your health at 29 and not at 43 like I did. I admire your sense of self.

2) we may have some cultural differences in this thread so don't sweat it too much.

3) everyone's journey is different. Ask questions, take advice but hold your own counsel and make your own decisions. ( it seems like that is what you are doing)

We have your back GF!

Well I still don't see where I deserved you insults are your profanity towards me. And when in the past If I had hurt any ones feeling I have apologized.

I see here where I have up front said I speak the truth and that it was in no way intended too be hurtful. Gave advice insurance. And gave a suggestion on visiting with current lb patients And ended it with best wishes. And in no was was nasty.

I never at anytime said I was the end all be all. I really thought I was being helpful. Sorry you didn't take it the way it was intended.

I do wish you the best

This is such an emotional subject and I would like to add my two cents, please. I truly feel like BayouG has her heart in the right place but chose words that were not always the best (new connies for example) . I don't think her intention was attack mode and I'm sorry this thread has wound up more like a near miss traffic incident complete with horns honking. I think if we were able to talk face to face things would go a bit more smoothly. I hope this thread can be forgotten quickly. To band or not is SUCH a darn difficult decision that I am struggling with as well. I see the points you are both making, and can understand why Connie was insulted. I would have not been happy either. We do need support here and we need to hear the truth. I know I do not want the truth sugar coated, but I also don't need barbed wire.

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. The growing demand for clean-label products, which are healthier and free from artificial ingredients, is offering a favorable market outlook. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
