Happy May Everyone!

It's cold as heck here, the wind blowing in off the Water, freezing. I went to my beach house this weekend, the Water was churning like there was a hurricane going on, as far as you could see out, nothing but white caps and white water, and it was cold there too.

I've got so many flowers to pot and it's too dang cold to do it.

The pic is from a cell phone, modern tech, see where he gets his cheeks from....

So...NJ Chick..you'll be back later...after you go outside to ???? LOL

Pat, our family is blessed with chipmunk cheeks, too. So cute! That's a great picture.

Darcy, Sorry about Ava's trouble. I hope it gets better. My dog had a short episode of that. The neighbor kid hurt him and scared him, so he would lunge at him and his sister. So we had them feed him treats every time they came near. There was never another episode of agression. I hope yours works out so well. Thanks for the very pretty picture. I wish I could smell them.

We are having chilly but sunny days here. It's a big relief from our months of rain. I should go for a walk. Maybe I will. :)

Love those cheeky cheeks -- he is adorable... So Pat is your son now getting visitation?

Darcy - I wish I had some of them beauties growing in my yard.. Not even my Violet's have bloomed yet ~ but soon.

Becky - Same temp here - Would be quite nice if it was not windy then I could walk myself..

Hello, everyone!

Pat, I'm so glad you reminded us to move over here to the May chat...I swear I have lost most of my brain somewhere...anyone seen it? Love the picture of your gbaby. Both of you are adorable!

Darcy, the hyacinths are gorgeous. Great photgraphy, too!

Eileen, how's it shakin? I don't think we say that about May, even in East Texas! But it's funny....I don't even like to EAT outside....

Okay, ya'll know about my speeding ticket in Oklahoma...well, I paid it, but apparently I was supposed to pay it in March, not April...so Friday I got a letter saying thank you for the check for your fine, but you didn't appear in court in March, so we have a warrant for you and that'll be $530, bend over and say thank you. I've made calls, and that's the way it is. No leeway for honest mistakes in N. Enid, OK. I have kids that break into houses and pay less than that. This rant could continue for many more sentences, but I think you get the idea. Oh, the original fine was $150, so all in all, it cost me $680 dollars to go 15 miles over the 35 mph speed limit for that one block.

OH, HI, Becky! Wanna make sure to welcome you here! (there is no connection between the above paragraph and this greeting!)

Got to buy a few new clothes yesterday...that was pretty fun.

Otherwise, busy with DD and not even home most of this weekend, so that's why I didn't stop by. Hope everyone is doing well, and getting along. Hugs to everyone, Cindy

I swear I am losing it today! Since I was one of the S L O W people today I posted on the April chat, even though dang, where is everyone at? DUH!

So, I am just copying my post here!:) :)

Hello Y'all!

Sneaking in here for just a minute, my show Prison Break is on shortly and I can't miss it!

I have to tell you that I have stayed on my diet all day (so far)! They even had chocolate cake with vanilla icing with carmel dripped all over it at work! They brought me a piece, I told them no, then here come another gal with another piece for me! Yikes! I was strong and said "no thanks".

I had to go to the ear specialist today, he thinks it is swimmers ear, but wants me to have a hearing test. He said before he became a doctor, he had the same symptoms and it was an inner ear infection. Hmmmmmm, I told him if the insurance paid for it I would, but otherwise I couldn't. He gave me some nose spray and ear drops. So, here I go with the drops again!

Kat - I rode behind DH about a week or two out, it didn't hurt me one bit. I didn't ride my harley for 3 or 4 weeks though. I wanted to make sure I was good and healed up. You brought back memories for me with the May baskets, we used to do the same thing when I was young! You made me smile!

Darcy - You're right, it just isn't the same w/o a fire! We use to keep ours going 24/7 while we were up there. Of course on the weekend, it wasn't 7! You are doing great with not smoking, I am really proud of you. I know how hard it is. Just remind yourself that when you get the urge that it will be over in just a few minutes. Hugs!

Well, going to run, the show is almost on and they are supposed to do the break tonight!

Later!

Hey Cindy - Boy I bet you'll never forget to pay another ticket! Talk about sticking it to you! Court costs my a$$! All they do is take it into the judge and he signs it! Whoopie Dee! Sorry you had to pay so much!

Becky - Did you get your walk in? Glad to see you came back today!:)

Darcy - Love the picture, they are some of my favorite spring flowers! Boy do they smell good!

Pat - How sweet! He is just precious!

Mary - It's hot here, maybe that is a good excuse for me not going for a walk!:) :)

Eileen - Now that song will be stuck in my head forever! I'll probably be singing it all night long! ROFLMAO!

Hey to Sherry, Anne, Donna, Dianne, Paula, Beanie, Patty (already said hi to Kat on the April thread) and whoever else I missed.

I'm watching the Mavs now, gotta run!

Hey Jersey Peeps... what's happening, Yo LOL leftovers from the teens!

So, oops hold on.........................OK. Just had to go Yak! Like you really needed to know that! Putting away leftovers and I don't know what came over me to put that peice of pork n my mouth and then to swallow it!!!!! Well, It may have had gone down, but it was a sh0rt visit.

So, DH and I went to his end of the year luncheon for H & R Block. Afterwards we went to the mall so I could get my favorite lotion. He normally doesn't come with me. We are walking around and I see the Chico's store. I have never shopped there because I didn't fit in their clothes. We went in and talked to the sales woman and she asigned me a sales person. So, this is where it starts to get out of hand. She takes me to a dressing room and starts bringing me clothes... AND THEY ARE FITTING.

Now I like nice things, but I don't buy anything that isn't on sale. I keep trying things on... I like them, she keeps bringing me more. This is like me eating at a buffet.... why stop when there are still clothes in the store.

I pick out a few "things", go the register to check out. IT WAS $602.00!!!! WHAT THE F###! I never even checked the prices... I left the store, DH was waiting for me outside and said oh good you got a few things!!!! I said not for long... they are all going back tomorrow.! I was literally in a state of shock. Not that they cost that much , that I went into a trance or something. Hell, I'll blame it on PMS... my husband blames everything else on it LOL

Yesterday DH asked to see the stuff and I showed him.... He told me to keep one outfit because I have done so well with my weight loss... I am taking the rest back. One shirt and one crop pants... $198. Now I need somewhere nice to where it! LOL

So, Happy Monday to you all,

I'll check in later or tomorrow.

Kisses

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
