I have a picture taken at Easter of this same little granddaughter, all dolled up in her Easter dress, looking down at what used to be a bed of hyacinths at the neighbors house. It looks like the pretty little girl looking for pretty little flowers, but in reality....she is looking for rolly-pollies!!!

I had to have Becky shrink the last one, so I won't waste everyones time posting it!!!

I am so sorry you miss your grandbaby...I do understand. Our son brought home a girl several years ago who was pregnant, told us he loved her, was there when the baby was born, wanted us to love him as our own, and we do. They got married, they went on to become pregnant again with our oldest granddaughter, and during the pregnancy, the real Father to the little boy popped back up and she left our son, took both kids, and we spend all our time trying to find where she has taken off to now so we can see the kids. And now when we do track her down she only wants us to see the little girl, not the little boy we have grown to love so. It may all change now, they have split up again....so we'll see!!!

Hola Chicas,

Is it Friday, yet? I am ready, any time. I have much better things to do than hang out at my desk all day, Working! I have work at home that I could be doing... but alas, no one pays me for that. And DANG - I still haven't won the lottery.

Just in one of those moods today. Nothing bad is happening or anything. Well, one bad thing IS happening. I found out this morning that my PCP is moving the Illinois! Now I have to find a new Doc - by the end of THIS month, thank you very much. I chose the gal I chose because of the location and the fact that it was a she... and I was So happy when I met her and found that she wasn't one of those Type A super skinny perfect people.... How am I ever going to find a suitable replacement?!?

Other than that, all is well. I managed to go a whole day without a carb attack - DH made lovely shrimp & veggie kabobs to go with that fabulous rib-eye - but I still ate more than I should have. So far, today, I am on track again.

Kat - Keep on kicking! It might be working... and that little one is adorable!

Sherry - You Wild Poet Chick, you. Hugs back at ya!

Anne - I have fair to middlin' restriction - but it isn't stopping me from just eating lots - slowly. I think I am going to have to schedule a third fill... So, what do you suppose a Toy Drink of Water is? Your boy sounds like an eccentric at 5. Maybe he will invent the new, pollution free, economical fuel source. It is going to take someone that doesn't think like the rest of us slobs...

Mary - Don't be too bummed about the kids being with Dad. You will be able to do Grown-up things... Like painting walls and re-tiling floors... :] Hugs!

Becky - hope you are having a great day!

Sallyjo - HI! Welcome to the NJ chat thread. Lots of us Texans hang out here, so you will fit right in. Set awhile and tell us about yourself... Congrats on the 10 lbs!

Pat? You off playing with that adorable G-Baby? What's up? We miss you!

Patty? Did they call you into the Principal's office? Whatcha doin?

Ira? Hows by you? You're still my favorite lurker. Hugs!

Donna? Are you trying on more cute clothes? Or taking the others back? Hope you are having a great day!

Darcy? song of the day... James Taylor, "you've got a friend"

Betty - Obviously you are working too hard.

Eileenie - I see you lurking... I will check back later.

Hugs to all!

Sherry, that's one darn cute poem! Hugs! You're so sweet!

Kat, you've got a charming little granddaughter...and beautiful tulips!

Becky, where in Kansas is your grandson? My grandma lived there until she died last November.

Beanie - I actually have a great Faire costume that I've never worn...one of my students and her mom made it for me, so if you run out of time to make yours, call me up and you can borrow it!

I have my DD with me up here at school today...she loves to come to school and teach with me. She mainly just plays, and the students enjoy her being here.

I woke up with a bad Migraine today, vomiting and all...but pulled it together to come to work. I go back to the dr on the 15th, so we'll do some adjusting. I bet ya'll are as tired of hearing about the dumb things as I am at having them. Wish I could figure out the "trigger" for them; I'd avoid it, whatever it is. But, is it stress, food, weather? WHO KNOWS?

DH thinks I get a headache whenever I'm about to do something fun!!!! But, that's a guy for you. I have headaches when I'm about to do something yucky, too....or if I'm asleep.

I'm staying pretty steady on weight loss, just thought I'd mention it...that means I'm not losing, and haven't in a while, but I am still losing in inches, so I'm just going with it.

Love you all, hugs, Cindy

Cindy, I had Migraines for years, had my first one in 6th grade, and because I always had visual efects with mine, my Mom took me to the eye Dr...he sent us to the proper doc! Anyway, we finally figured out mine were hormone triggered. Estrogen surges knocked me into a Migraine EVERY time! I had a hysterectomy (not due to this, but uterine cancer) and have never had another since! See if yours fluctuate at all around your cycle.

Can't chat for long....gosh I hate being so busy! My son turned 16 today so we let him pick a restaurant to go Celebrate. He chose a local pub not far from home for his favorite meal, chicken, broccoli and ziti. I ordered a chicken caesar salad....mistake. Chicken got stuck so had to wait for 10-15 min lol. My mom kept looking saying..."Gosh that has to suck when that happens." All I did was smile, shake my head and wait. It went down and the next bite was chicken so lubed up with dressing it's not funny lol. It slid on down lol. I didn't eat the rolls or even touch em, no way no how not after what I went thru the day before hahaha. Anyway, DH snuck away and asked them to bring a dessert for DS. My son had 5 lovely ladies singing him happy birthday and the piano player playing it lol. It was great and he turned so red lol. I had to do it...just had to hee hee. He's going for his drivers permit tomorrow OHHHHHH HELP ME! Lord, give me the patience and strength on this one lol.

I can't really do personals but, I have say....Cindy, I do hope you feel better and find a solution fast for these Migraines. I have then once in a while and I know how terrible they can be. Have you tried Reiki? I'm curious if that would help you and I'm going to ask my friend/Chiro about it when I see her next week. Hugs to you my friend and may you feel better soon!

Hugs to everyone and TGIF is just hours away hee hee

I just wanted to share with you that I hit the 50 lbs weight loss this morning. :clap2:

I jumped up and down... well, first I got back on and checked it again!!!! Went in and jumped up and down on the bed while DH was trying to sleep!

I just never thought I would get here! And I did it one week short of 4 months since surgery. I don't know who thinks this is the easy way ... they are so wrong. I am still learning to be a banster... I am still getting to know my band and most of all, I am still fighting the head demons....

I will post a thread later on LBT, but really wanted to share with you guys first. You have been so supportive of me and I can't tell you what a gift you all are for me. To be able to share in a safe place.... I can't tell you what it means to me!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Kisses,

50 lbs is such an exciting milestone. Way to go!

DH comes home tonight - finally! I won't be around much this weekend - My mom is watching the kids tomorrow so that DH and I can meet my twin DS and her hubby for a day at the casino. I'm broke this month, but it'll be a lot of fun anyways. Time to check the couch cushions for nickels, LOL!

Have a great weekend everybody.

Cindy how's the headache today? Hope you are feeling better!! I worry that Sherry may be headed for some new headaches with a new teen driver in the house!!! Nah I am sure he will do fine, out of 3, the youngest of ours was, and is, the worst of the drivers!! You'd think we would have gotten better at teaching them, but not!! She is just scatterbrained behind the wheel! Her new husband is gonna be better at teaching her than we were, just ask him!!!

Well Anne, enjoy DH's return and your time with sis, and WIN,WIN, WIN!!

Hope in a couple of days to change my ticker to show LESS than 100 pounds to go!!!

Weekends almost here, hang in there Eileen, we will make it!!!

Thank God its Friday! Happy Cinco de mayo -- Margarita time!

DONNA You have lost 50 lbs :heh: That is the most wonderful accomplishment! I'd jump on the bed too....no matter who was sleeping!

Well girls first I had to recouperate from being poisoned and then the realization that my twins are graduating from jr high school and that I have NOTHING planned -- good lord such a major brain fart! Could it be that Momma has a little too much on her plate, well, it doesn't matter I got a few things worked out but I kinda just hid from LBT to get my chit together!

We have 2 major garage sales this weekend and need dress shirts for the twins. After we buy those I will have them professionally cleaned. I have just enough pennies to get them each a new tie and they can wear jeans to school so that don't look too over dressed. I found discovered a new Outback steakhouse down the street and will be making reservations. They open at 4pm and the ceremony should be finished as the restaurant opens, we can be there before the rush. Since this takes place in the middle of the afternoon I was planning on asking the boys Dad to join us, especially if I don't have to pay for his meal. I know the twins want him, heck, all the kids want to be with him. I just hope this all happens after surgery.... then I don't have to eat and he can pay for everyone.

Rene: you, my dear know me SO well. Thank you for your wisdom and those evil grins you send my way!

Kat: Little girls and tulips..... a dutch girls favorite, you made my day!

Anne & Eileen: I am getting a cut/color this afternoon.... I scare myself and what about those little kids at my school!

Have a great day -- and give me another Margarita (liquid food today)

HUGS

Congratulations, Donna, on the big 50 lb milestone!~~ I KNOW this is not the easy way, LOL! You are going fast and furious, and making fantastic progress!

Thank you all for the hugs and concern about my stupid, dumb headaches. Sherry, I'm interested in what your chiro says about reiki...and Kat, I suspect hormonal changes, since I am 50 and menopausal. The problem is, I can't really track my periods, since I am without uterus myself! LOL! I do have the ovaries, so that's why I am suspecting hormonal influence, but am not overly crazy about any HRT. Once upon a time I took Depo-Provera birth control shots, and let's just say my body did NOT like those. It does not like progesterone cream, either. I will talk to my dr. about these things, and she's an internist, so we will continue tweaking the plan, and come up with something.

Sorry to say, I do have a headache again today. Woke up with it, as usual, had vomiting (this isn't severe), then just took it one step at a time and made it to work (I don't have any leave left). It is better now, and I'll make it through...Ya'll are so sweet to care.

Kat, you're doing good on your weight loss!

Eileen, good to see you, even if you are trying to scare us by saying Boo! LOL!

I've got the regular Friday meeting thing this afternoon, then tomorrow it's taking DD to theatre class and to a Kite Festival at her school. On Sunday DH is taking her to Horsmanship Camp with her Girl Scout troop, so I'll have part of that day for me-time. Then that afternoon we have a church event, DD sings in that, and we register for Vacation Bible School. Oh, the month of May...that's why I never associate it with the same thing as that song Eileen sings! Hahahaha!

Love you all, Cindy

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
