Hello I'm just home from my EGD. It was great! I was in the same place for my surgery this Friday so I got a little bit of how is going to be. They found a small hernia, they would repair it?

Pd. sorry for some nonsense, I'm still a little dope haha.

I feel pretty good. I have sharp pain in my upper left shoulder when I breathe deeply so that's annoying. However, just sitting around or just walking is pain free. I did have one bad "gas" moment yesterday... for like 20 minutes, the pain was really bad. I tried to walk around a bit and I took some gasex. It passed. Lol, the gas and the pain...

I had one, didn't know about it till after the surgery. Keep in mind that you might have a tight feeling that may be your band or may be the repair and that should go away in a few weeks. My hernia repair took 2 stitches and was tight to the esophagus and I had to get the 4cc primer of saline from the surgery taken out until the repair healed and loosened.

Hopefully you won't have to experience it, but if you do, at least you are aware.

The surgery happens so fast you don't even realize you were asleep. Went very smooth for me as it should for you.

I just had my EGD this morning and was told that I had a hiatal hernia. They said it wouldn't interfer with me getting the lapband and that they would repair it during my procedure.

Very true, most people don't even know till the surgeon is in there and comes across it. I got a pic of mine along with the band... Lol

If I were you, I will not use the heating pad. Use gas x or walk instead. There is going to be swelling and heat can make the swelling worse.

Port soreness goes away within a day or two for me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
