Pre-op diet. What protein shakes did you drink?

Recommended Posts

I am just looking for ideas as far as the pre-op diet goes. My BMI is 52 so the doc wants me to do three weeks of the pre-op diet. I am looking for different ideas so I don't get bored.

What did your pre-op consist of?

I was banded in July but have been drinking Protein Shakes for 13 months for Breakfast. I use chocolate Body Fortress with 8 oz skim milk, a little Decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is as thick as a McDonald's shake. I use 2 scoops of the mix to make sure I have enough Protein and I also find I am good for 4-6 hours. I have a small Hamilton Beach blender that doubles as the drinking cup. I bought mini ice cube trays at Bed Bath and Beyond and use a whole tray in each shake. I hate breakfast foods so that is why I have a shake every morning.

good luck, hope I helped.

I start my pre op diet tomorrow but I have been trying out different Protein Shakes before my pre op diet. I am always on the go so I brought the ready to drink shakes. I like all the Atkins brand shakes they are amazing and I like the muscle milk Cookies and cream shakes. You can find them at Walmart but they are cheaper on vitacost.com. Unjury.com Protein Powder are good too they also have a chicken Soup with Protein too. I hope this helps and good luck too you.

I love Max Muscle brand their shakes have a great taste, they don't leave that grit or chalk taste in you mouth

I like to eat at night in front of the TV. Before my surgery I bought a really good blender. I figured if I had to eat pureed foods, I wanted them blended well. I bought a Ninja Blender at Walmart for $40. The great thing about this blender is it crushes ice really well. So everyday I would freeze a tray of Mio Iced Tea cubes. At night, I would crush the cubes in the blender and have a very satisfying 0 calorie treat. Eating ice is bad for your teeth but if you crush it first, it gives you just enough chew to make you think you're eating. That and Jello in wine glasses got me through those really awful two weeks.

I only used Protein shakes for 2 weeks following my surgery. I liked the shakes for costco.

My doctor said it was better to eat your Protein than to drink it... better for your metabolism.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
