No restriction 3 weeks post op!?!?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm 3 weeks out and on my purée stage. A week ago my restriction was huge ! I would have 1/4 cup of liquid and be soo full.. Now I can drink full cups and not even feel full:( is it because swelling has gone down??? God I just want my fill :/

Sounds pretty normal to me. This is the time when its 100% willpower...Hang tough and it CAN get much better soon. :)

Totally normal- you are in lapband hell. Protein up that helps and drink lots. This will pass.

Lexi, definitely normal. Your swelling is going to go down and restrictions will be less. And this will happen with your first few fills. You have to remember, your band is a tool and will help. But will not be the only reason you lose weight. Will power, life style changes, and positive thoughts are going to be needed as well. You have to give it time to work. And work it will. If you follow guidelines. Don't rush it. Let it happen.

Took me 4 months ln the "White Knuckle" Club before the band began to do it's "Magic"

After that, with a little more of the learning curve to go, loosing weight got very easy...

But prior to that? Hold on...it's all determination and hard work.....and even then I managed to gain weight....

Hello, I am Connie I was banded 2/27/13 and I feel the same way you do, I wont have a fill until end of May.

I find I dont eat as much, but I eat more then I thought I could, not happy with that, but it did make me recognize the importance of excersising and eating when I am hungry not just because.

I am looking to find someone to connect with to share experience etc on this journey.

Connie

7 months out - 4 fills and minimal restriction. At 5 months out - 3 fills zero restriction. A few weeks ago you were probably still swollen from surgery. Trust me this is a marathon and no 2 people are alike. Listen to your body and be patient.

You will not really know how things will be until you get to solids and are eating high Protein soild foods. Hang in there.

Hang in there girl! I am 1 mon post op and in hunger hell. I get my first fill tomorrow, and although I am excited, I have learned on this forum not to expect a restrictive feeling until at least a few fills. Everyone's body is different, so it might take a while to get to a happy place for you. It's just mind over matter at this point. Just stay active and do the very best you can. :)

Yep, I'm 4 weeks post op and I have very little restriction. But after starting real foods I gained a couple and said NO I'm not going to do this again. So I'm logging EVERYTHING down to the smallest bite in MFP and trying to just eat way smaller portions and not drink with my meals. It's taking constant focus, but is paying off. I come to this app several times a day while at work or on the go to use as a reminder that I can do this and make a healthier life!!

It's on us to stick it out until we have more restriction and can last longer between meals.

WE CAN DO IT and WE WILL SUCCEED!!

Keep coming back here for support they are all wonderful support!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
