Perfectly normal...or maybe even above average! Without fills, its just a diet. 10#'s in a little over three weeks....that'd be on track for over 150#'s a year. Think of this weightloss for the long term....not a week or two. This is a lifestyle change. Congrats and hang in there! :)

Ten pounds sounds great to me! You don't want to lose weight to fast.. That is unhealthy.. Remember gradual weight loss is the best in helping you keep it off! Good luck to you! I have my first adjustment May 9th as well!! :)

"Normal" for everyone is different. As long as you are following the guidelines established by your doctor then there is nothing to fear. I've read on this forum of bandsters not losing anything for months after being banded, then one day a switch is flipped and their body just starts losing weight. Others lost a bunch of weight preop but nothing postop. Then there are those who are just steadily losing. I went two weeks without losing a pound. Nothing in my routine or diet changed, but I was put on steroids for tendonitis and then I had bacterial bronchitis and was sick so as soon as all that all cleared up I dropped 4 pounds in 3 days. Your body is an extremely complicated system.

You are doing great! Don't forget a lot of that time was healing and a lot of peope dont lose as much during this period. Just make sure that you keep to your guidelines measure and track all of our food. You might want to also arrange to see an nutritionist. Hang in there.

You are doing fantastic!!! 10 pounds in three weeks?? over 3 lbs. a week!! You can't hope to do better. I understand what you are thinking. For the most part we've all been there. It will come off if you do the right things. And 10 lbs. in three weeks certainly seems like you are already doing the right things. Best of luck!!!! Keep your head up.

There is no normal with this "darn" thing. I think we all have days we feel like failures. I am 9 months out and 54 lbs smaller, but still at times feel like a failure, because I read about others who have lost more in that time period who were the same starting size as me.

From what the pros (docs and NUT) tell me, everyone reacts differently to the band and the band life. Some lose quickly to begin with then slow down a lot (this is me). Some loose slow at the start, but then pick up to a steady pace. My doc said as long as I was following the rules then that was all I could do, it was up to my body to do there rest and to just be patient. I know being patient is easier said than done, but what else can we do?

yes and no

it seems you are losing at your pace

so what if me or whomever loses more

you just keep doing what you are doing as it is working...

ps: i am living proof that you do not have to have a fill to lose weight...i am not on a diet, but i just let the band help me eat less with me making better choices of food. (i guess i am a lucky one who got restriction alone w/band and plication).

so hang in there

That sounds good to me. My Dr wants me to lose 1 lbs a week. Last month I lost 8 lbs and he said it was too much.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
