I had my surgery 1/29/13. My Port bugs me. When I lay down it sticks out about an inch. Does anyone else have this. Does this get better with time. I feel like it is laying on top of my rib cake a bit.

I love my port! It reminds me that I did something for myself! Mine sticks out, and I feel it when I lay down. When I get in the swimming pool it sticks out a lot. It reminds me, I guess what I am saying, it doesn't go away, it might get more pronounced, you will have to hide it with the clothes you wear.

Good luck! Karen

Mine is below my ribs so it doesn't stick out. I can understand how it bugs you. I read in here of people having them moved. Or even a small size. So you do have options. Sometimes just knowing it can be changed gives me peace of mind for awhile.

Mine sticks out a bit too but I can't feel it when I am lying on my back. I had surgery 12/21 and it only bugs me once in a while depending on how tightly I'm bent over or twisted on that side like when I shave my legs or bend over to fill the cat food dishes. I just adjust my angle. It was for a good cause so I'm totally ok with it.

well, i can say mine doesnt bug me

i touch it when i walk sometimes or when i wake up

its my extra tool that saved my life......it is the reason i am walking again..it is the reason i am 100+ pound lighter....think of it in a positive light..if you can....hub teases me and says when i lose all that i need to, it will pop out like when a thanksgiving turkey is done.....such a crack up...

You all have such positive spins on your lap-bands! I love it!! So glad I joined this app site. I had my surgery yesterday. My port is under my left arm..sort of where your bra or swim suit top would cover it is very discrete. I have a friend who has hers in the left collarbone area-she hates it. I have another friends who's port is I. Her abdomen. She never mentions it bothering her I guess everyone is different. Thanks again for such great blogging--it reinforces what a great thing I have just done for me and my family:)

Mine sticks out like there is a golf ball right under my skin.....I no longer have any belly fat.....

It is my "Badge of Honor"...a small price to pay to be normal weight and in excellent health.....

If you look at my after pic within my profile, you can see it it a little medial to my right.....

NEED A PORT REVISION AFTER 4 MONTHS!

Well, the good news is I'm down 38 lbs. My surgery was on 12/28/12. My surgeon is very pleased with my progress.

The bad news is that when I went for a fill

today the doctor tried to push my port flat and whatever he did hurt like crazy. He stopped dead in his tracks and said I can't fill you because your port has flipped and we're going to have to do day surgery. So he will fill me when he revises the port. I was hoping to get a fill because I am feeling hunger between meals, he feels I'll manage without a fill. I hope so. I'm averaging about a 1 1/4 lb. per week weight loss. I'd rather lose 2 lbs. a week but I am happy with 1 1/4 a week.

Anyone else have a port revision? If so, are you doing OK now? Thanks!

I can't even find my port as it is covered up maybe with a layer of fat, but my PA had to show me where it was when I got my first fill about 3 days ago.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
