Pre-op Diet starts....TODAY! Yay

Recommended Posts

Hey guys..

Starting my new journey today. Surgery is scheduled to march 21 (if insurance doesnt decline, which please help me pray they dont lol)

My diet consists in:

FREE ZONE:

sugar free beverages

broth only Soups

Sugar free Popsicles and sugar free Jello

Items in moderation, as they contain larger amounts of sugar.

2 cups or less of juice/gatorade/powerade

3 or less regular jello/popsicle/no sugar added fudgicles

3 or less 1% or skim or lactaid milk/ 6oz light yogurt, 1cup low fat ricotta or cottage cheese

1-3 Protein Shakes

Supplement Guidelines:

At least 15g of Protein per 8oz serving

Less than 20g carbs per 8oz serving

Less than 5g fat per 8oz serving

-------------------------------------------------

I intend to take 1000cal a day. I'm not sure if is too much, but its probably what i can do right now.

And i MAY take some powdered Soup that i found in a brazilian store, it has 60calories which 1.3g fat, 12carbs, 2g Fiber, 3g protein, maybe 2 a day (in case i get bored of the broth)

Who's with me?!? :)

My pre-op diet allows me anything with very low calories and/or a vegetable....in my mind a pickle fits in both categories. I had one yesterday and it got rid of my crunchy/salty cravings i get in the evenings...On another note, i'm on about 800-900 cal a day, for the past 3 days, and I havent seen the scale move at ALL!! I cut back on salt also. I'm wondering if its normal??? Does it take a couple days to kick in???

I asked my nutritionist yesterday how many carbs i was ok to take a day, as the first day i ended up with 80g.

Surprisingly she replied saying i could take up to 200g a day. She also said that i do not need to count calories, but i'm doing a 900cal goal.

I'm still on 700as of now, the pickles i have here has 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 everything (just sodium of course), so, that woundt be too bad, but im scared of the fact of eating the solid.. Maybe that is bad :(

Ugh

Actually its a low fat diet for 12 days and 2 days prior to surgery I have a liquid diet. Apparently 2 days is enough to "clear" most solid from the bowels.

The purpose of mine is to shrink the liver, being only on liquids for 10 days!

Same for me also....but everybody is loosing 10-12-14 pounds it seems and for me, nothing!! I'm hoping i'll see the numbers go down after a week...And i do have a crappy scale (not digital) too so that might be the problem...

Ugh, just cheated!

Please dont judge :(

I was feeling sick, and tried to drink my EAS and couldnt ;( i almost throw up.. Yikes..

So, i eat a can of tuna with a plum Tomato like salad with some lemon and pepper.

My day so far:

Fat: 11g

Carb:45g

Fiber: 8g

Protein: 98g

Im supposed to follow a liquid only, but my nutritionist said that my allowance is 1200cal, maximum 200g (yes 200) of carbs!

So, i'm reallllllyyyy bellow..

Would this hurt my diet? ???”

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
