Just had a baby and ready to rejoin the lapband wagon!

Hello everyone!

It sure feels amazing being back to the site! I just recently had a baby a few weeks ago and gained a total of 35 lbs with the pregnancy. I originally had 8cc in my band but had 4cc removed when I was 8 weeks pregnant because I was to the point of losing more weight and not being able to keep anything down which is extremely harmful for the unborn fetus.

Throughout my pregnancy, I did eat whatever I desired but I do believe that if I didn't have the band, I would have gained alot more than 35 lbs. I delivered a healthy 8 lb 11 oz baby girl!

So today I went in a for a fill. Dr. Leport's staff and team are amazing (in Orange County, CA). The PA tried his best to give me my full 4cc back but he already warned me that none of his patients ever receive the full amount after a pregnancy. So when we tried to put in the Fluid, it stopped at 2.6 for me comfortably. He tried 2.8 and I nearly threw up! So now I'm at a 6.6 instead of 8 but that's a really good start for me especially not having restriction in over 9 months.

Now, I am sipping chicken broth for the rest of the night and will start on full liquids tomorrow.

Any suggestions on new soft food ideas? I haven't been on this site in so long that I would really appreciate the support and advice! It's like I am starting all over again and it's so exciting! Looking forward to shedding the baby weight.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading!!

I had my surgery April 2011. I had a miscarriage January 16, 2012. I was pregnant again in March and delivered a healthy 8lbs90z baby girl December 4, 2012. I have exclusively nursed her since birth and I am going back to work March 18th. At the beginning of my pregnancy, I was 228lbs. Just prior to my surgery, I was 258lbs. I ended up @ 258 near the end of the pregnancy 11/28. As of February 11, 2013, I weighed 220lbs. This was at my physical. Yes, I am eight pounds lighter than I was prior to the pregnancy. I am not really watching what I eat. I am just drinking lots of Water and juice. I go to my surgeon tomorrow. I am not sure if he will give me a fill since I am still nursing. I am concerned, because I heard a lot of stories where people have gained weight or have had trouble losing after having a baby. Hopefully, we can keep posting on our progress. I have only seen one post of many where there was success after the baby. I hope that is not the case. I will let you know what happens after my appointment.

Hi Sandra!

Congratulations on your baby girl! My doctor said lap band patients who are nursing would usually wait a couple of months to 6 months before getting a fill because nursing moms need more nutrition and food than someone who is bottle feeding (me). But every doctor is different and maybe your doctor will tell you differently.

Let's definitely keep in touch and please keep me posted on your visit :)

SO far tonight, I've had chicken broth for lunch and split pea Soup diluted with milk to drinking consistency.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
