I'm getting ready to start my liquid diet this Thursday. Have surgery on the 14th. Anyone else go out for one last big meal or eat anything special ? I'd like to but for some reason the thought seems silly ? Is this a sign that food no longer has the hold on me it used to ? Thoughts ? Opinions ?

The week before I started my pre-op diet, I went to several of my favorite restaurants. I think this is pretty common (Last-meal syndrome...) Good luck with your pre-op diet!

I did one of my favorite fast food joints, but it wasn't a big meal. I just ordered my favorites, I couldn't see the sense on gorging myself only to starve the next day.

I'm planning to have a favorite meal before I start my liquid but do not plan to eat too much, just normal.

Try a whole month! Everyone I knew wanted to take me out...my choice. They were feeding me like I was on death row...even at work! I just went with it, of course, and by the time my pre op liquid diet started I was so ready and sooooo sick of food.< /p>

I went out for a "last supper", not my choice of a fav place, had I chosen it would have been Longhorn but my best friend chose local but we had fun and yes I gorged right down to birthday cake cause it was her birthday, do I regret it, no, it was the last juicy thick hamburger (thats what I wanted) I've had since banded cause hamburger meat gags me now and as far as birthday cake, haven't touched it either. On my birthday a couple of weeks ago my mom made me a fat free 5 cup salad, with the exception of the coconut. So if you feel the need to have a fav meal go ahead get it out of your system. It's kind of mourning food. Junk food that is. I eat healthy now. Good luck.

Sara, you can do it. The first few days are the worst, your body is detoxing off of carbs and sugar. Of course I had to do 3 Protein shakes a day and broth and sf popsicles and sf Jello and that's all I could have for 2 weeks. You have the right mind set, looking at the big picture, leaving the old self behind and looking at the new you. It's all worth it, believe me! I love my band.

I went to not your average joes for their bread because I heard I would not be able to eat bread after surgery. I split dinner so I didn't overeat. I can eat bread so that was kind of pointless.

You'll be able to eat most things once healed; you'll just want to eat fattening things on rare occation.

You bet....!

I had a 4 day road trip the weekend before I started the pre op liquid... I ate and drank my way up and down the west coast of Florida. I almost welcomed the liquid!!!

Heck Yeah!

I had a last supper/early birthday dinner. Decided on steak since I hear red meat is hard after. I didn't eat as much as I normally do, but I think that was just because I was so mentally ready to start this journey.

I guess I didn't have a last meal. I didn't have the fear of never eating something again. If I crave something now I eat it in a lot smaller quantity. Not as often as before of course! I found if I withhold things from myself I crave it and obssess over it even more.

OMG - I had Last Supper Syndrome from the moment I got approved to the moment I started my liquid diet. McGriddles EVERY DAY for Breakfast - buffets - and the grand finale was all-you-can-eat crab leg night. I had a DEBRIS FIELD around my chair! :)

The thing is - I can still eat most of what I could before....just less. It is a mental thing but I had fun, lol.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
