I've been eating clam chowder and chili before first fill!

Just wanted to know if that messes anything up? I'm 9 days post op. All of a sudden I got hungrier and was tired of the same stuff. I had whole clam chowder and some Johnny Rockets Chili bowl today. I know its bad just worried. I still don't know when my fist fill will be.

First, what phase of the post op diet are you supposed to be on?

You need to realize that you really can mess things up by not following your doctor's orders and giving your stomach time to heal. Your stomach has been sutured and by not following your post op diet you run a real risk of ripping those newly healing stitches.

You also need to realize not having a fill has nothing to do with it. Most people need multiple fills before they have adequate fluid in their bands and the band won't stop you from eating the wrong things. It is always your job to make good food choices.

Stick to your doctor's guidelines. No exceptions.

Agree with Missy... you know it was wrong, and one slip can lead to another, and pretty soon you will be one of ones who says the band does not work. The band works if you do. It is that simple.

Thank you so much for the info. I'm on full liquids now. Next week I have my wound check. Maybe they'll tell me when my first fill will be.

talk to your Dr and tell him you are hungry and need something more filling and see what he says. Sometimes they will say if it is ok, or not ok to go to mushies, just make sure you talk to your doc before anything. good luck!

agree with grammy and missy

you know it was wrong and you asked was it anyhow.

def need to follow the dr's instructions. they are in place for a reason. more than likely nothing bad happened, but what if it had? would it have been worth it to eat just because you were hungry?
