Ok so I am 3 weeks post op. I lost 30 pounds pre op and 21 pounds post op. week one I did Protein Shakes, broths, sugarfree pops, jellos, and sugarfree beverages. Week 2 same as week one but was able to add thin Soups without chunks, now week 3 mushies like canned chicken and tuna in food processor with 1 tsp of light mayo, soft scrambled eggs, cooked veggies. I get to have solids on Thursday but I weigh once a week and this week I had a gain of 3 pounds. I was shocked...I only eat 3 times a day and drink all my Water and I am not retaining any Fluid and I am only consuming 400 to 700 calories a day. Did I gain cause I went from pure liquids to thicker foods now? Will I gain again when I go to solids? Has anyone else had this happen?

Sounds like we had our surgeries about the same time! CONGRATS!!! I am so excited about getting mine that my Weightloss staff at clinic were laughing at how giddy I was acting!! My first fill is jan 16 and I will be interested in hearing from others regarding getting filled during surgery! Will be stalking this feed! Lol

All Drs are different, some fill, some don't. I didn't get my first fill until 6wks out and I got 3cc and hopefully another fill tomorrow, which he said would be 2cc.

As far as gaining weight right now, you are in your healing stage until 6wks out and you shouldn't worry about any weight loss. Just follow your Drs orders and you will be fine. When you go from nearly starving diet to eating real food again your body is going to try to hold on to those calories, but hang in there it will all even out.

Best wishes on both of your journey's!

Benellibabe, the same thing happened to me. My surgery was December 21st, liquids for 2 weeks before, 1 week after. I am on mushies right now and i go in on the 10th for my first fill. I was not filled at surgery. I lost 16lbs before surgery and have lost 7lbs since. I went up 4lbs when I went from liquids to mushies. Your body is just equalizing itself. I too did not stray from what I was told to do and have just trusted that it will work itself out if I do what my Dr. is telling me to do. Don't worry... you will lose those couple pounds and then some! Congratulations on such big losses!! It is incredible! I am looking forward to Thursday but am a little nervous for how the first fill is going to be. Hang it there.

It's crazy to see that happen, isn't it? I think it happens to most people. Your body is just going, "Wait, what the eff did you just do to me!". It thinks you are starving it, so it starts to hold onto every last bit once you start eating real food again. It's happening to me too, although I didn't lose as much as you. :)

Ohh good to hear that weight gain after you start to eat mushers is normal!! I was down 28 lbs between pre op and post op then started my mushies and gained 4 lbs!! I was so darn mad!! Lol I blamed it on getting sick with upper resp crap and being unable to continue with my mile walk each day! My option was walk or breath! Lol

I was in the same boat. Gained 3 lbs and was on a plateau for a week then this Friday through the weekend I lost the 3 plus one. Looks like I'm on the move again with my first fill tomorrow. Keep your head up!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
