drinks detrimental on weight loss?

Recommended Posts

For me I have not had a diet coke since day before surgery....this is literally a miracle because I was addicted like a crackhead :) I don't want to erode the band and they say carbonation of any form does that...beer i might have to cheat every once in a while but rarely...

Quitting sodas was as hard as quitting smoking. If you want something bad enough anything is possible!

I had a diet coke addiction prior to surgery. Knowing that i could cause myself physical harm by drinking it has kept me away.

Me too!!! I drank 4 or 5 cans of soda each and every day for more years than I can count....ok for so long diet coke was TAB!!!!

But when my dr told me the effects carbonation had on the band... That was it. I quit it like a hit potato. I do miss it terribly. It's probably throne thing I really really miss...even more then French fries and hooters chicken wings!!!

Drink whatever... just don;t come on here whining when you don't lose weight or you have problems with your band failing you! Do you want to lose weight or not? Suck it up you are old enough for surgery' date=' you are old enough to do what is right.

Sorry, not feeling generous or loving today. Life is what you make it![/quote']

Just my opinion.....

Doesn't anyone remember the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. And my mother taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all

You r just a mean opinionated woman. I see your post all the time. U r not nice and I know many on here who can't stand you

She wasn't being rude, she was telling people how it is and I support what she said. If your not going to follow what the doctors told you then don't complain about it when you screw up and don't like being told the truth, period.

Yes it WAS RUDE. I have read many of her replies to people and she thinks she is the only person who has ever been banded. She's a KNOW IT ALL person and she is a big mouth. You on the other hand must b just like her. THIS IS FOR SUPPORT TO HELP PEOPLE WHO DO SCREW UP. if your going to be griped out on here then what come here for help. TRY STARTING 2013 with a LITTLE COMPASSION AND NICENESS.

Just like her?? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME...you must have really low self esteem or one of those people who screw up and can't lose weight and has to blame everyone else but yourself. Before you start making personal attacks on people maybe you should know them first. I have also read her posts and responses and she is not rude, she is supportive of a lot of people and has a lot of positive stuff and advise for people. You need to grow up and quit being a bully who finds something wrong with everything that people say.

Again....think about the Golden Rule.

This is a public forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my opinion, people need to take what they can use and leave the rest behind. We are all adults and there is no reason to be calling each other names.

I agree with you, however, I want to be told the truth and not for everything to be "sugar coated" to not have my feelings "hurt" ... I feel and in MY OPINION, if your adult enough to have the surgery then your adult enough to hear the truth. My doctor was up front and honest with me and I appreciate that because that's how I am.

It's obvious you have a problem with a poster and may I suggest the forum rule goes " if you don't like a post either 1) ignore 2) block poster.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on an open forum, but personal attacks are not tolerated. Sometimes can get you kicked off.

It's not even interesting anymore how many posts end up like this. The other groups I am in have no drama thank G- D.

There would be no drama here if everyone follows Alex's( administrator) rules.

Pass up or block, so simple really.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
