Just a question about your goals

Recommended Posts

I am sitting here thinking about the new year that is upon us and i have a question:

What is your goal weight?

I have been asked this a couple of times and I don't really have one. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin again. I have always been a plus sized girl. Even in high school I was wearing a 3x t-shirt. My goal is to not shop in Lane Bryant.

Do you have a goal weight or do you have a general goal you'd like to share?

Hi and Merry Christmas

I am 5'6 and would like to be around 157 pounds. That is my first goal.

My second goal is to compete in crossfit tournaments and place in my age division (that is a HUGE goal and to some untainable, but I really want this!)

Good luck to you and congratulations on your new lifestyle!!

When the dr asked me that question at my first consult In my mind I recalled being 175 and comfortable once after a liquid diet... He said that was too high. I am 5'9". He suggested 150 and I freaked out. We settled on 160... Insurmountable really since that was either 217 or 227 lbs I had to lose. So I decided to take it 10 lbs at a time and see what happened. Well today I am 157... And while the race to 150 isn't imperative I would like to get there one day...just because. But don't get me wrong I am thrilled to be in a size 8 and happier with myself than I have ever been in my life.

I'm 3 weeks in and not sure how to set my goals. I need to lose anywhere between 75-100 pounds. I'd really like to do that in one year and my doc says it's totally attainable. But I don't want to set the goal too high then not meet it but I also don't want to set it too low. I feel like I shouldn't even set a weight loss goal until I'm at least 6 weeks in. I do kind of feel like a first goal is onederland. Thoughts?

When I first got banded I didn't have a goal weight. I just wanted to get the weight off! Then about 4 months after being banded someone asked me what my goal was. I said I don't know maybe 160. So that became my goal until I talked with my doctor and told him my goal. He said that was too low of a weight for me (my BMI would be 22 & hard to maintain). He recommended a BMI of 25 which put me between 170-175. So my goal became that.

The weight is great, but really my goal was to be happy with me & I am. I look in the mirror & I like what I see. I think that is what it is all about. Liking the person we see looking back at us in the mirror.

Ever since I can remember I have been overweight... So after my surgery on the 14th I was surprised when my doctor told me I had a small frame (but also excited that something on me was small :) before being banded I was 256 and I am currently 242... My goal is 135-140 and I am 5'8"... Happy new year everyone!!!

Thanks for the responses. I am going to have to do a but of research to see where I should be to be healthy for my height. I am excited about this journey but nervous because aside from childhood, I can't remember looking at myself in the mirror and being smaller than a 20.

I am 5'9" and my doctor says she is happy if I am anywhere between 150-200lbs. So I've chosen 175 or 170. I am about 180 right now and the weight loss is definitely slowing down. So, I am less tied to a specific number but seeing where my body naturally stops losing.

My goal is 200 lbs.... I've already lost 51lbs, I have my second fill in a week. I started at 396.... I'm 5"8, I feel being 180 wouldn't look right. I know I have a long way to go but I can do it. So far the weight is falling off, can't wait til I hit my sweet spot.... Good luck to!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
