Had the Band five days ago in pain!!!

I had the lapband five days ago and I'm still hurting pretty bad! I feel like gravity is pulling my stomach down when I walk and I'm still very bloated and pain in my left side and back and stomach I had a severe stomach surgery last year and my Dr told me I had some scar tissue I was told most people feel better within two or three days and can go back to work..NO WAY ...I was hurting so bad last night I wanted to go to ER but I walked some and took a pain pill because I'm prescribed them by my family dr and I layed on a heating pad and it finally eased up! I wasn't hurting that bad until I ate some soup but I ate it slow and not alot I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem ??

It can take up to two weeks to start feeling normal again. The pain you are having is normal everyone doesnt feel well in a few days. Hang in there it gets better.

I had a lot of pain too but it got better everyday. I did not feel pain free until around 6 weeks post-op but everyone is different. If uncertain talk to your physician. Good luck.

if you are up moving around, which you should be, you will feel pulling and some pain..Its normal!

have your pooped? the colon is were you are hurting and as you empty it out the pain will get better. milk of magnisa is the smoothest and fastest working give it a try and see if that doesn't help..

Thanks everyone so much for the advice !! I feel much better now knowing its normal!!i guess I need to try to walk more even though it hurts! I haven't had a normal BM so maybe that's it as well?...how soon do most people start working out after the band ?

My doc told me only walking for the first month as tolerated then u can start doing any other type of activity after the 4 weeks. This allows time for your rummy to heal properly so u don't have issues with band slippage or the port moving!

Days 3,4, and 5 were nearly unbearable for me. I started feeling normal around Day 9; then today (Day 11) I actually felt good, had energy, etc.

It's so good to hear I'm not the only one I'm suppose to go back to work in two days and I'm a CNA so I'm praying I don't do any damage to my port!!! Thank you all south for the support and Advice!

It's been six days for me not five...I lost a day somewhere I guess ..lol

Just make sure you're not lifting more than 15lbs. I'm a Home health LPN. There's no way I'd be back to work if it wasn't for where I'm at. Hospital and nursing home work just isn't possible without lifting or turning someone. Be careful.

I do home health and my pacient is so sweet and understanding hopefully he will feel well and I won't have to do anything heavy!! I pray but I can rest alot there watch TV and even take a nap when he does so I plan on taking it very easy !!

Oh ok great! The family I'm with is very much the same way. I work with a 5 year ok boy! Love him and his family to death! The mom and I get along great and she completely understands my restrictions. She's actually having the kids stay over a her parents this whole week bc I can't lift any of his medical stuff. She has to work so the grandparents will help me when I need it! Haha

Glad u have a patient that understands!!! It def helps being able to go back to work!
