Recommended Posts

So I've started going back to the gym and normally when i was thin I never had panic attacks while at the gym it was a great atmosphere every one was nice, now there is only a handful of nice people who have known me my hole life the others are so judgmental. They all seam to give me this what the hell are u doing look. I'm sure some of that is in my head but it still really hard to deal with I've bin strong thow and have gone every day. Just wondering if u all have had the same problem

Yep... but you know what, it is your exercise time, not theirs so they can just butt out! You are there to make a better person of yourself, not them!

The best thing that I do and has worked for me is to ignore them and smile when they look at you. Later on when they see your progress, they will come to you!

I also feel sometimes we project that onto ourselves a) by overanalyzing a situation and feeling it is more than it is and B) by not standing proud and confident.

Hold your head high and carry on! :)

Keep up the great work!!!

You are doing something great for yourself. Don't let others judgement, or perceived judgement, get you down. Just focus on the healthy change you are making to your life!

Maybe you're not very good at reading body language? They could be looking at you and thinking hooray for that fat guy, he's actually trying to do something about his health? Think positive my friend, positive.

Yeah, I know there are many out there who look down at us, but I know when I see someone who is obese and they are walking, bike riding or in the gym, I think, there's a guy who understands he has to do something to improve his lot in life. Give em a big smile and a thumbs up next time.

I try to go with my husband or a friend. Then I'm not as aware of what others are looking at/might be thinking. But after a few weeks of going with someone, I'm ok to go alone. Hang in their and it gets easier to go alone and block others out. Also, some are not really looking at you, just staring straight, as they work out. People really are thinking about themselves a lot when they are at the gym, not other peoples weight/speed. Keep going and show them how dedicated you are!!!!

Don't let anyone get in your way. You know its horrible but when we (fat people) work out people are judgmental, but when we don't whats the first thing they tell us? WORKOUT.

Seriously, you got lapband for yourself and now you are going to go workout for yourself!

Keep up the good work and hold your head high!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
