I know that Im not suppose to have over a cup of food per meal..Does this mean that if I weighed my food that I could have 8 oz per meal or does it mean an actual measuring cup ? Also..Im having issues getting my Protein in. Should I drink a Protein Shake or go short on my protein ?

Never ever go short on your Protein. It's more important than anything else you put into your body.

Its a cup measured. If you are having issues getting Protein in at this point I would say drink a shake. How far out are you.

Well you are still healing. Protein is important for weight loss. What are you eating in a day

you are sooo not alone! I got banded the same day as you.. and I've stalled for 3 weeks also.. i don't go over 1000 cals a day.. and I get my Protein in.. I've been patient, until today actually.. got a bit depressed. Well, I am hopefully going to see a nutritionist for the first time, sit down and talk about what I should do this week.. I'll let you know my findings! **hugs** It really does suck.

You need at least 90 grams of Protein a day. Your body has to adjust to the drastic deprivation in calories. We all went from about 3,000 calories a day to under 1,000. Once your body realizes its not starving anymore you will lose. I know its depressing as hell but it will happen you have to just be patient. Rather stall now then be going good and then stall for weeks or months sometimes. 17lbs in four weeks is great. Dont get upset just keep doing what you are doing and try to eat more protein and the only carbs that you eat right now is vegetables and fruit only and if you can go without the fruit the better.

My dr doesn't advocate Protein shakes after the liquid phase is over 3 weeks post op. he says he would ather see me get my nutrition from real food.

And the question about 8 oz or 1 actual cup..... It's one actual

Measuring cup.

I recently met a nutritionist who was banded 8 years ago. She told me that for her personally, Protein Shakes are her mainstays. She eats some regular food, but relies on Protein shakes more than anything. She has maintained her weight all these years from doing this, and food is secondary. It just depends on what works for you I guess.

You probably know this but it's worth mentioning in case someone doesn't: there is a little bit of difference between a DRY measuring cup and a liquid measuring cup. We need to be using a dry cup. Also, that is one cup of food compacted into the cup, right. (that question is for people more experienced than I.)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
