Need Advice: Am I eating too much?

Recommended Posts

Second part of my question...

Would you consider this too much to eat at one sitting?

About 5 sugar snap peas, 5 baby carrots, 3 pepper slices and some dip...two teaspoons of cottage cheese...a 4oz snack thingy of canned fruit and about four bites of a piece of pizza?

I am amazed I could eat this all because the past two weeks have been a struggle with restriction...way too much...PB'd and slimed alot...and then all of a sudden it's gone...

Even with the restriction I haven't lost anything and think I've been stuck on a plateau...so I read that you have to eat to keep your body from going into starvation mode...so today I ate!

Does this all seem right? Today is my 4 month bandiversarry and sometimes I feel like I just got it yesterday!

Hi Jennye,

Nope, I wouldn't consider that too much to eat at one sitting at all. Unless you're only sitting for 5 minutes, in which case I'd say yes, you're eating too much.

But over the course of a 20- or 30-minute meal, I'd be able to eat just about that much and be satisfied but not stuffed.

It's astonishing that I think that's an adequate meal now. Prior to banding that would have been what I ate while getting dinner on the table. :D

Alexandra,

Thanks for the reply...sometimes it just helps to bounce ideas off of my fellow bandsters...I guess the main reason I've been concerned is I had been SO restricted and now I could eat all that and not even feel like PBing...oh this damn fickle band!

I have tried to figure an angle or two on this restriction changes. I have a couple ideas. One the amount of sodium in you r body will effect the way you feel as in titer. I also believe if we go many hours without eating or drinking we relax and constrict. I think this is why most people are resrticted when they wake up. The hydration and sodium was brought to my attention by the Dr. the other is my own brainchild. I can eat what you did easily by the way. If I drink with meal and I know I need to eat I can wash it on down. If I haven't ate well for a few days and I am exercising intense I will try to get some major Proteins down in a days time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
