Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am 3 days post op and all is well. At what point can the switch be made from decaffeinated coffee to caffeinated?

Some people are allowed to drink regular coffee. I was told never but that is my surgeon and they are all different. I would call and ask them.

My dietitian says NO coffee due to stimulants in the drink, which mat trigger you to eat wrong foods. My surgeon says it's okay just drink in moderation. I drink 1 cup every morning, sometimes 2 on a Friday. But, I was a big coffee drinker before my journey.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm not a huge coffee drinker by any means but do miss my 1 coffee a day (2/3 on weekends). Maybe I'll try 1 a day. I'm not worried in the least about cravings. I thought there may be potential for aggravating the stomach while still recovering. Tks again everyone.

I am a big coffee fan, but I did switch to 1/2 caf recently. I told me surgeon that a no coffee rule would be a deal breaker to me and I meant it at the time. Now, it's really not such a big deal...

Do whatever your dr says, that's all you need to do.

I was on Decaf for a few weeks after my surgery, but went back to caf and it doesn't trigger anything for me. I even have my two teaspoons of sugar & CoffeeMate. I only drink one cup a day though.

Hey all, on the 30th november it will be my second band. And i asked the first doc can i have coffee and he said yes!!! I love my coffee, so at cafes have a cafe latte for less milk and fat. Im in melbourne, Australia and tea an coffee and wine and alchoal are allowed!!! So in between meals when your not eating a coffee doesnt count as a meal! Just use low fat milk and low GI sugar, raw low GI sugar is my favourite. I never felt when i had the band coffee did anything but satisfy me. Hope this helps!!!! Real not decaf!!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
