I Hate Rude Dieticians!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 2nd July 2012 and so far I lost 23 kilos ... I am very happy and excited! But I have been stuck in losin weight nw for nearly 3 weeks! Last month I lost 1 kilo only! And this month lost 2! I exercise everyday and eat healthily..... Most the time I can't finish 1000 calories so I eat around 800-900 a day ... I don't know what am doing wrong!!? So I calle my dietician and asked for an appointment she said she was busy then she asked what the problem is I said am not losing weight anymore ... She said am eating maybe too much!!! Is she. Joking! 800-900 calories too much!!???then she said maybe ur not exercising enough!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!! She didn't advise me on what to do!!! She was rude and said maybe a just a slow loser and she hanged up half way through the conversation I tried calling back she wasn't picking up!!! Ahhhh!!! I paid for this surgery and I recieved no help so far! she's the only dietician in the clinic :(

I am stuck and stressed about losing weight !!!! What am I doing wrong?

I feel like I am in this journey alone now :( with no help

I don't know what to do or how to eat properly...(I don't eat fatty food or carbs... All Protein nd Vitamins ) I don't know what to add or stop! This is stressful! I need help!:( how should I boost my weight lose!:( help!:(

Thanks

Oh I'd be livid! That is total crap!!

I would complain, LOUDLY, to your surgeon. He needs to be aware of how horribly she's treating his patients. Tell him exactly what happened and that he needs someone on staff that is willing to help his patients not be a rude idiot to them.

In the meantime, some of us are giving carb cycling a try. Maybe it can help you too? It's really working for us so far. We're all losing. Here's our thread on it: http://www.lapbandta...ent-gone-right/

i am with Mis... you need to have a discussion with your surgeon so he knows his patients are getting this type of treatment. However whether you try the carb cycling or something else... you are ultimatley in control. I would get back to basics. If you arent losing doing what you are doing you are welcome to try what I did. I used 1000 as a focus calorie count but I was all about Portion Control. Usually 3 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies /salad and 1/4 c of startch at every meal. I also did 2 Snacks. Usually fruit or veggie in the AM... usually lo sodium V-8 juice since I am not much of an eat before noon bandster and in the afternoon or evening a sweet treet like sugar free popsicle, skinny cok ice cream or 1/4 c pop corn or chex mix for the crunch factor. I did that for 22 months and lost well. Maybe it would work for you.

I do believe you need the support of the NUT but I only met with mine once... granted she was avaiable for more visits but I was doing well so didnt feel the need. She had given me the above instruction and I made it work.

I hope you find the support you need.

Maybe you are not eating enough, 800-900 calories is very low. You don't want your body to go into starvation at that point is will start storing fat. Try uping your calories with healthy foods, 5-6 smalls meals a day! Good Luck!

I agree that you may be eating too few calories. Also, I would definitely heed the advice above and complain to your surgeon. They need to be supportive of their patients. Now if you called every day I could see her being short or frustrated but legitimate calls there is no excuse!

Good luck to you. I have been advised between 1000-1200 calories per day.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I haven't been banded yet but having to deal with something that rude and heartless is terrible! I hope you can use the advice from our fellow board members and it helps you. Best of luck!

How awful!!

I'm sorry about your experience!! Tell your surgeon...!!

Also, maybe try switching up your routine. Example: if you usually use certain machines at the gym, try out others. Or if u usually have 3 meals try having 5 small meals etc. Sometimes when we change out routine a little bit, our bodies snap back into weight loss mode, and stop plateauing.

I am currently carb cycling and am so far (knock on wood!!) out of my plateau and am losing. This may work for you, too

I hardly ever finish 1000 calories a day Its always less! I need to up my calories ASAP!

Am finding it hard to up my calories as it's healthy food (small portion) so it's always low calories!

I will also give this diet a try ! Need to change my eating plans! Thanks soo much for the support! I need it! I give up with this dietician she's too rude!:(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
