Am I Eating Too Much?

Recommended Posts

Mashed potatoes and ricotta cheese were my 2 favorite mushy foods. I couldnt eat no more than a 1/4 of cup of food per meal during this stage anyway' date=' I guess that was a good thing.[/quote']

So the ricotta cheese is considered your Protein right?

I am 4 years out and still eat mushy foods with lots of Protein. For lunch I love tuna or chicken inthe can with tuna and a little mayo. Holds me from noon until dinner at 6:00 pm. Breakfast I am not too hungry so might have yogurt cup or SF pudding and maybe for snack have a piece of cheese with turkey cold cut. I have been trying different things because even though I am to goal, I would like to get another 5 or 10 pounds off but I am not going to starve myself to get it done. I am happy at my 10-12 pants and if it comes off fine, but I am not going to sweat it. I still have a hard time with dry foods, especially hamburg or pork. No bread or sugar for me! I guess things in moderation is the key if you can get everything down. Good luck and you will be just fine.

I am a little surprised that your surgeon moved you to mushy so fast, too! But, if you mix your Protein in the blender, you can make it the consistency of mashed potatoes. Stay away from starches as much as possible. If you are still bloated, you might have moved to the mushy stage too soon. By the way, for you folks still in liquid stage, I had hot and sour Soup from my Chinese restaurant. It was excellent and makes the missing food feelings go away. Best wishes, Karen

Yes, I would also mix unflavored Protein powder in it as well. That goes for cottage cheese too (2%)

I would also put a dollop of ricotta cheese in my Tomato Soup or I would put a little sauce on it with a little parmasagne cheese and put it the microwave. Believe me I became very creative during the mushy stages, LOL.

2 weeks??? I would surely have slit my own throat if my surgeon had told me to do that! I was on thin liquids for 48 hours, then full liquids (thick Soups, etc. no bumps) for 3 days, then mushies, then soft foods by the time I had my 1-week checkup. I know every surgeon is different, but boy howdy, I feel for you!

I measure meats after they are cooked. Same with veggies and stuff. Make sure it's measured after it's cooked and before it's blended.

The rule of thumb that I was told was no more than a cup of food per meal, but then I was told 3 oz of Protein, with 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/2 cup of fruit if still hungry. I rarely get to my fruit and if I do it's a spoonful or two.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
