Profile Pictures Are Deceptive To Me.

Recommended Posts

Something is bumming me out on LBT...

I read post's daily, and I like to look at the poster's picture.

How is it you all have SO much ro lose, yet you all look thin to me!

Are you posting old pictures?

I get disheartened when I see someone really struggling and saying that they need to lose 100+ pounds, yet they're thin and beautiful.

I am so obese that I have a picture of my dog as my photo for goodness sake!

What gives?

I do have 100 lbs to lose however most of my weight is in my hips/thighs and I never did show it in my face and neck luckily. I am somewhat heavy up top too with boobs but moreso down below. Please don't feel disheartened. We all are here to lose. I currently weigh 254 and I'm 5'2" so I have a long way to go before I hit goal.

I can tell you from my own experience....

I know my face looks thin. Truth is, I look very thin from about the shoulders up. You can even see my collar bones.

But that is because like most people, I lost weight first and fastest in my face. As a result, my face looks like a thin person, despite the fact I still have 100 pounds left to lose.

Look at my profile, the before pic that was taken when I weighed almost 160 pounds more than I do now. That was NOT a "thin, happy face". LOL!

I myself.. have looked at my profile pic and thought.. hm.. i should change that. This pic is actually at my heaviest even.. yet I took a good pic.. you know.. we learn that camera! I hate seeing pictures of me.. though I have been strongly wanting to post some. I started at 325. im 302 today.. and have soo much more to go! it's a start... and pkb .. if I put my horrible pic of me up! lets see your beauty!! I know how ya feel.. I only ever post pics that I approve of.. and on fb.. no one can tag me in anything unless I approve it.. so I know all about that feeling of not wanting to show. I'll do it! :)

I always wonder that too. I think most of these people must be at goal weight from their pics and I'm shocked when they say oh gotta lose 60 more pounds.

I hate taking pics cuz my fat face but whatever. U should post some of you. We're all fat here, nothing to be ashamed of

Well I can say that most of the pics I have tried to upload will not. I dont like my body right now even though I am 179 I have an apron and I dont like it and don't want to show it off. Even with a long shirt on I hate taking pics. I think its everyones decision what pics they want to put on their profile and what they don't. Just like you have a dog I'm not comfortable with. Why are you afraid to put your own pic on their too.

I have posted honest pictures of myself through our my journey even at my heavest which was some where between 250-260's. I have updated my avatar along my journey to show changes. Check out my gallary and you will see, yes I used to be very obese but yes now I am thin. I posted all of my pictures so it would be encouraging to others and yes it is possible with a lot of hard work. It took me 2 years to loose 122 lbs.

Post your pic!!!! We are all different! Started at different weights and are all differents sizes. Never compare yourself to others. This is your journey. We are all here to support each other, not compare. I personally have always had a round chubby face and prob always will. But that is me. Plus pictures are great to look back on and see how far you have come. Hope this helps and I like seeing everyones smiling face in there pictures.soooo post post post :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
