Help With Mushies

Recommended Posts

So I have a week until mushies and am trying to get more ideas for foods.

Is chilli okay if I make it pretty smooth? Since it got cold out here (I'm in Chicago) I have been craving chilli!!

how i loved mushies when i started..

girl ff refried Beans was like having a $200 steak in my eyes

i used refried Beans, salsa and shredded ff cheese (blended til smooth)

and let me tell you it rocked. i also blended down chili (tuna/chicken salad til smooth) all w/dr's approval (just an fyi) so if in doubt, ask your dr as what works for me may not be right for you......and i will always say ff popsicles were my savior during pre and post ops.

You would want to keep the chili on the very mild side as far as seasoning and spices. Also, for the mushies stage, essentially all foods should be processed in a blender or food processor.

You're still healing from your surgery and need to be gentle with your new pouch.

I was told Wendy's chili in a blender was fine.

Thanks everyone!!

I was told about adding cheese to Soup then and cottage cheese. I can do the shreaded cheese but I cannot stand the texture of cottage cheese!

Cincinnati style chili would likely be fine - it's much smoother and milder than other kinds. I made thick fruit smoothies during that time - some greek yogurt or plain add your fav fruit, some ice cubes and blend - thick creamy and tasty. I did creamed pototos with chicken broth and a little cheese- I really enjoyed that.

Oh I like the idea of the creamed potatoes! I love, love, love mashed potatoes!

Scrambled eggs or an omelet (eggs and cheese only) would be okay. Buffalo chicken salad would be good (cooked chicken through a blender, add buffalo sauce). Soup if you can have it, just chew it up really good. Mini lunch container of chef boyardee pastas; again make sure you chew it up really well. Bananas mashed up.

Basic rule my nutritionist gave me was, if you can get it through the tines of a fork it's mushy enough to eat.

I do not eat cottage cheese, however, put it in a blender and liquify it and then add it to your Soup, makes it a bit creamy and adds Protein.

What did you use to get your mushies the right consistency? I need to borrow something from someone. Cant buy one right now?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
