Redness Around Staples..6 Days Post Op

Recommended Posts

I have 5 incisions with staples... I am pretty bruised up but the biggest incision has a big red rash type thing underneath and around it.. And it is very very itchy. Doesn't hurt just itchy and I don't have a fever at all and no oozing So I don't think it's an infection.. Has anyone else had this? I go to get my staples out And my first post op appt on Tuesday and will def have the DR look at it.. Just wondering If I should be worried

Congrats on your surgery!

I has my wls on 9/11 and am still somewhat itchy & red around my incision sites. As long as they are not hot or oozy, should be ok. Good that you'll see dr... S/he can confirm.

Best of luck!

I only had dissolvable stitches/glue as well. I had asked my surgeon if I would have staples and he looked at me like I was crazy! The itching seems to be normal and sounds like the healing process is working :)

I wish they would of given me the glue.. Had it for my c section and prefer it. Also, this may sound odd but every night when I lay down I get this sharp pain on my lower left side of the stomach.. So much that I need to take my pain meds the doctor gave me... Which I don't like taking.. And I'm fine during the day.. It's just laying in bed when I have the pains.. Do you guys know what this could be ?

Sounds like the discomfort when you lay down is coming from the port area. Mine bothered me the first week or soon then eventually disappeared(band day was Aug 6). Lots of healing going on your body. I used my cellphone camera and shot my redness in one of my incisions and sent it to the doctors office. My doctors office is 1 hour away. He said it was normal and all I had was the glue and no stitches.

Best wishes on your recovery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
