I was banded on July 12, 2012 and I'm down 24-26lbs but I am struggling with my diet and exercise. I can't seem to get it together. I try to to eat right (sometimes) and I get hungry quick when I do. Bit if I eat like a taco or some wings then I'm full for like 5 hours! I'm so discouraged and I really want to lose this weight. I've had a fill 2.8cc and it's like I never got one ???žI know it's bandsted hell but didn't anyone get a slow start on exercise and nutrition?

The first 5 months after getting banded, I ate just like I did pre band. I had no restriction and I was thru dieting, so I refused to count or measure anything. I lost about 5 lbs in those 5 mths. After my 3rd fill, I finally found mecca.I was done with eating like a trucker.

24-26 lbs in 2 months? That's fantastic! When I was actively losing (like the first year or so), I lost an average of 10 lbs a month. Some months a little more, some a little less. But everytime I weighed in with my gym trainer (every 2 weeks), I lost something. I didn't start working out till I'd lost about 50 lbs. Then I went the expensive route for about 6 mths - hired a personal trainer and saw her every week. I really didn't work out all that hard either. I went 3 days a week, for about 60 mins a session. I still go 3x a week for about 60 minutes (I can walk much fast5er now tho!)

You're doing very well, IMHO. I wish I would've lost more those first few months. Maybe if I had followed the rules, but I can't do it over again...

Good luck!

Marci

Start simple. Discuss it with your dr and maybe Get another fill. Additionally Start tracking your calories on a phone ap. or a piece of paper will work just as well but you will need a pocket sized calorie book to guide you. My ap has restaurants on it so when i was eating out it was a god send. Do you know 1 wing from hooters is like 100 calories? My ap made me make better choices. A dozen raw oysters, six

Crackers and cocktail sauce to go with is under 250!!! and I can't even eat a dozen oysters anymore!!

What is your daily calorie target? Mine was 1000 calories each day. I entered every morsal I ate. When i got to 1000 that was it. I was done for the day.

You have a good start so now expand it.

And ps I didn't exercise. I walked starting about after the first 100 lost but even though I need to... I haven't started any formal exercise program.

Good luck

I did not really start the best weight loss until going into my second year. I did not want to start exercising until this last May. I just wasnt ready. And I wanted my adjustments to be slow so I could emotionally adjust to the changes in my eating and the way the adjustments felt to my body as they became more restricted. Part of me wanted this journey to go faster...but at this point I do not regret it. I have really had to want this lifestyle change. Now u eat better, exercise, and watch my food choices...at 5.75 cc in band and down to about 174. Goal is 154.

Thanks for the tips ladies. My calorie goal is 1000 and I have the calorie king book along with diet and exercise trackers. I'm going to actually start to use them and see what difference that make. I love this forum you all have encouraging words and I really need it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
