They said any kind of soup just avoid heavy cream type Soups and during the day I can have low fat low sugar yogurt' date=' cottage cheese, pudding , and Jello. The Protein shake I'm using is premier I bought mine at SAMs ... I hope this helps![/quote']

Well my surgery is October 15th- one week from today. I've been on the pre-op diet for a week now and still have this week to go. Its amazing the amount of different pre-op diets on this board from all the different doctors. My pre-op diet consists of Medifast Protein food that I had to buy from the doctor's office I go to. I can have 5-6 protein "items" a day and eat about every 3 hours. These protein iteams range from oatmeal, Soups, drinks, bars, pudding, smoothies, etc. On top of these foods I am allowed unlimited broths, SF Jello, SF kool-aid. Im definitely ready for this pre-op phase to be over. Food isnt horrible but its nothing you would want to continue to eat. Its also amazing the amount of different post op diets there are out there from the different doctors. Luckily I only have to be on liquids for 24 hours after surgery, then its pureed foods (which means I can blend anything in the blender) for 2 weeks, then if all goes well, the next two weeks will be soft foods, so in about a month I will be on regular foods if all goes well. Not bad at all =) and im VERY excited! ALSO, my doctor has already given me my prescriptions for an anti-nausea and pain medicine so I will be prepared for when I go home! =)

My surgery is Friday morning and I haven't been asked to do an EGD, is that normal? I'm using Dr. Reilly in Houston, Texas from True Results. I had registration and blood work done at the hospital last week and they said they didn't need anything else.

I had to have it done for insurance purposes. They wanted pictures to see if there was a hiatal hernia. That way they can repair it before the band is put on because its located in the same spot.

Two weeks before surgery! Today is the first day of my protein/liquid diet that's required before surgery. I'm drinking an Opti-fast chocolate Protein Shake, and it's soooo NOT yummy!!! Its amazing how everyone seems to have different prerequisites prior to the same surgery... makes me wonder if my two week clear liquid diet prior to surgery is absolutely necessary, lol, because I sure could do without it, lol.

Made it through my first night I made a pillow fortress on the couch and slept in a certain position all night. I have a lot of gas pain in my stomach and abdomen today. I took gas x and that seems to help move it around. Definitely get up and walk. That seems to help some. I'm eating 1/2 popscicle or 1/2 to 1/3 Jello cup at a time. Yesterday I had 1/3 cup of broth. It's odd because my brain says mmm hungry and my tummy/ body says no you're not! I'd like to punch anyone who says Lapband is cheating or the easy way out. This is definitely not easy. But will be so worth it. I got the realize band. My incision sites look great under the steristrips. Minimal pain there. I only told 3 close friends and my inlaws about my Lapband surgery and every one of them called to check on me yesterday. Kinda helps when they're 2 fellow social workers and a nurse. I made the right decision who to tell. The support is great. Plus my partner had hers last week. She's doing great and has been babying me. That helps. Good luck all newly and soon to be bandsters.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
