Lapband W/ Plication

Recommended Posts

Am I right here?

LapBand + Sleve = LapBand with Plication?

If you are banded (I will be this fall, no date yet) how did you decide on plication or not? Was your choice surgeon recommended? Did you start with just the band and get plication later or do it all at once? Very curious!

I am planning on just the LapBand for now but I would add the plication/sleeve if I was struggling down the line. This life choice is very important to me and my family.

THANKS in ADVANCE!!post-206094-13813134329214_thumb.jpg

I had banded plication last Tuesday. Its not exactly the sleeve in that with the sleeve they remove a portion of your stomach and with banded plicaton they sort uf just fold your stomach up to the same size as it would be if you had the sleeve with our removing any portion of your stomach and then they add the band as an added weight loss mearure.

I'm scheduled for surgery on September 24, at which time I'll get both the lap band and plication. I like the idea of have a redundant system in place for weight loss, but only needing one surgery.

At yesterday's pre-op testing they told me that the doctor would not do plication if the gastroenterologist present detected a hiatal hernia or some other stomach issue. So I know the second question I'm going to ask in the recovery room is, "Did he do the plication?"

(My first question after all my previous surgeries has been, "Where are my glasses?")

OK - I got banded with Plication (and hernia removal at the same time) on 7-7-11. I am doing great. down 106 pounds and counting. I returned to work 3-4 days after my surgery and it was done as an outpatient. FYI, I am no kid either - 61 yrs old. doing great and very glad I had it done all at one time.

Lapband with plication done both at the same time (with my gallbladder removed as well as hiatal hernia repaired during same operation). My surgeon recommended it, I decided I would go ahead with it, and I'm down 86 lbs in one year, nearly to goal! Best decision I ever made.

Good luck!

I had band with plication done in late May. I was the one who asked my doc about it, and since it's still new, he put me into his trial. I stayed overnight at the hospital. I have had 1 fill so far and getting my 2nd fill in a week. I would haven already gotten a 2nd fill last month, but I had to cancel my appointment unexpectedly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
